Ihren jährlichen Veröffentlichungsrhythmus setzten The Coral 2006 aus, doch schon seit dem letzten September arbeitet das Sextett von der Merseyside bekanntlich im Studio von Noel Gallagher an einem neuen Absatz für die Diskografie. Dieser hat mit „Roots And Echoes“ bereits eine passende Überschrift bekommen. Ende Juli erscheint mit „Who’s Gonna Find Me?“ zunächst eine erste Single, die anschließende Veröffentlichung des Longplayers ist für Anfang August geplant.

Die neue Single gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut. Das lässt mich schnell die schwache letzte LP und die sehr durchwachsene Mini LP vergessen.

Hey man, why don't we make a tune... just playin' the melody, not play the solos...Ja, die „Nightfreak…“-Mini-LP war ja in der Tat eher verzichtbar, ein wirklich schwaches Album haben The Coral aber m.E. noch nicht gemacht (sehe sogar „The Invisible Invasion“ bei ***1/2). Ansonsten: yep, sehr schöne Single!

Look out kid You're gonna get hit@ atom: Deine Einschätzung von „The Invisible Invasion“ ist verblüffend. Ich bin sehr angetan von dem Album, halte es um einen Tick besser als „Magic & Medicine“ – schöne gespenstische Grooves, ausgefranste, überdrehte Instrumentierung: ****1/2 – quasi THE CORALs „13“!
„Nightfreak“ kenne ich nur vom Reinhören im Laden. Gefiel mir aber nicht so, und nach Arnes Rezension (**) blieb das letzte Stück Neugier auf der Strecke…

kann mit der „nightfreak“ auch nicht viel anfangen. die LPs sind alle auf ihre art essentiell… beeindruckend, wie unterschiedlich sie sind, mit nur einem leadsänger. und auf’s neue album freue ich mich jetzt noch mehr seit dem konzert gestern!
das video zu “who’s gonna find me“ (bessere sound-qualität als der stream auf myspace – die harmoniegesänge kommen u.a. viel besser zur geltung); unspektakulär, aber trotzdem eindrucksvoll.

Dirty, dirty feet from the concert in the grass / I wanted to believe that freedom there could last (Willy Mason)das album (komplette songs! ordentliche soundqualität – nein, ich konnte nicht warten :-)) im media player auf ihrer myspace-seite … noch nicht komplett gehört, aber das klingt alles ganz vorzüglich. update: jetzt komplett gehört. erster eindruck (wobei ich einige songs schon kannte und „put the sun back“ und „jaqueline“ in der xfm/zane lowe session-version schon hundert mal gehört hattte): locker ihr bestes album. :liebe:
