Bill Evans‘ „Montreux II“ kenne ich nicht – war mir bis eben gar nicht bewusst, dass die auf CTI erschienen ist und dass Evans dort überhaupt je was veröffentlicht hatte!
Von „Gene Ammons and Friends at Montreux“ kenne ich bisher nur die Tracks aus der Dexter Gordon
Prestige-Box.
Von Roland Kirk gibt’s überdies auf dem Album „Kirkatron“ sowie auf dem tollen 3CD-Set „Dog Years in the Fourth Ring“ weitere Tracks von Montreux (1975).
Weiss nicht mal, ob das alle sind… abgesehen von „Swiss Movement“, das mir spontan als erstes und tollstes Montreux-Album überhaupt in den Sinn kam, sind’s jedenfalls alle, bei denen in meiner Liste Montreux auftaucht.
Ob da Rock gespielt werden soll oder nicht… ist mir an sich völlig egal, ich war nie dort, mich würden wohl solche Dinge wie die eigene „Währung“ und der exklusive Bier-Sponsor sowieso ziemlich stören. Dass da früher mal Leute wie Braxton und Kirk gespielt haben, während sich der Jazz-Teil heute nur zu oft auf eine All-Star Gruppe um Herbie Hancock oder irgendwelche „GRP All Stars“ oder sowas dreht, das ist jedenfalls schon sehr schade. Allerdings scheint das der Lauf der kapitalistischen Welt zu sein… Expansion, Macht, Kollaps… und dann das ganze wieder von vorn. Während der Anfänge vieler Festivals war musikalisch viel mehr möglich als später, viel weniger war zu verlieren… diese Entwicklung hat längst auch schon Willisau eingeholt, ich weiss nicht, wie’s an den deutschen Festivals aussieht. Darum halte ich dem Taktlos die Treue…
