Wie angekündigt startet heute die Umfrage zu Euren 20 Favoriten von Aretha Franklin. Und damit starten wir in das Jahr 2026 mit einer richtigen Herausforderung, denn der Katalog dieser Künstlerin ist sehr groß. Die „Queen of Soul“ wurde am 25. März 1942 in Memphis geborena und verstarb am 16. August 2018 in Detroit. Im Laufe ihrer beeindruckenden Karriere erschienen 38 Studioalben, 5 Live-Alben und weit über 100 Singles. Es gab in den Billboard Charts 112 Singles-Notierungen, davon 73 in der Hot 100. 20 ihrer Singles wurden eine Nummer 1 in den Billboard R&B-Charts, 17 ihrer Singles gelangten in die Billboard-Pop Top 10. Sie veröffentlichte bei renommierten Labels wie Columbia, Atlantic, Arista, RCA und auch bei ihrem eigenen Label Aretha. Sie arbeitete in einigen der berühmtesten Studios mit einigen der bekanntesten Produzenten und Musikern. Eine Aufzählung würde hier zu weit führen. Unter dem Strich wurden über 75 Millionen Tonträger von Aretha Franklin verkauft.

Wichtig für mich die Unterscheidung bei Platz 2, die Version vom Soundtrack The Blues Brothers mit deutlich mehr Schmiss als das Original. Auch in den 70ern hat sie noch überragende Sachen gemacht.
