k-o-r-rÜber die Neuveröffentlichung von Modernism gibt es verschiedene, sich widersprechende Artikel. Mal soll es im September eine LP in gelbem Vinyl geben, dann wieder soll es eine Doppel LP sein. Bis September ist es ja noch eine Weile – mal sehen, was es dann wirklich wird.

Es wird beides, Doppel-LP und gelbes Vinyl. Leider ist die LP schon im Pre-Order komplett ausverkauft worden. Ärgerlicherweise habe ich von der Veröffentlichung auch viel zu spät erfahren…Versuche es mal hier:

Staring at a grey sky, try to paint it blue - Teenage BlueIch habe Modernism immer mal wieder „probiert“, seit ich das Boxset habe.
1989 fand ich Promised Land sehr geil, obwohl ich seinerzeit (und heute eigentlich auch) mit House nicht viel ander Mütze hatte. Danach kam „Everybody’s on the Run“, was eigentlich A-Seite sein sollte (habe die Promo-Maxi), dann aber B-Seite des überflüssigen Long-Hot-Summer-Remixes wurde. Das Stück fand ich ziemlich schräg. Den Rest hab ich damals nicht gehört, erst als die Box kam.
Die LP hat einige gute Momente, aber nostalgisch werd ich da nicht. Mein 1989 klang nicht so und es bleibt eine komische Entwicklung in Wellers Schaffen. Mir gefallen die späteren Tracks, in denen er auf die Zeit Bezug nimmt (Starlight, One Tear) wesentlich besser, als die Dinge, die er damals gemacht hat.
Habe mir die gelbe Doppel-LP natürlich trotzdem bestellt.

Der hat übrigens am Wochenende in Glastonbury Shelley zitiert. Das gleiche Gedicht, das auf „Sound Affects“ abgedruckt wurde:

The rest I just squandered." - George Best --- Dienstags und donnerstags, ab 20 Uhr, samstags ab 20.30 Uhr: Radio StoneFMIch habe heute die ersten beiden TSC-Couloured Vinyl Reissues erhalten und kann sagen, dass das farbige Vinyl toll aussieht und die Platten auch sehr gut klingen, aber leider ist wieder wie auch schon bei PW-Reissues die Druckqualität des Covers – vor allem bei Introducing – Café Blue ist nicht so arg – wirklich mangelhaft. Sehr schade, das.

Staring at a grey sky, try to paint it blue - Teenage BlueLeider haut „The Paris Match“ auf Cafe Bleu soundmäßig völlig raus, da sind ganz unangenehme spitze Höhen im Sound, sonst klingt es sehr gut.

Staring at a grey sky, try to paint it blue - Teenage BlueUniversal Music will in October issue The Jam / 1977, a new 40th anniversary, five-disc box set celebrating the busy debut year of The Jam, when Paul Weller, Rick Buckler Bruce Foxton and delivered two albums and three hit singles.
This forthcoming collection features remastered versions of both In The City and This Is The Modern World, and despite a plethora of Jam box sets in the last five or six years the label have dug out six previously unreleased demos from the first album which feature on the second CD alongside five further demos which have been issued before.
CD four is a live disc and includes a previously unreleased concert (15 tracks) from the ‘Nashville’ recorded on 10 September 1977. This is paired with two John Peel sessions from the same year.
Finally the fifth disc – a DVD – features TV appearances and promo videos.
This discs in this box set are packaged in mini-LP vinyl replica wallets with printed inner bags. In The City uses the US version of the inner sleeve and This Is The Modern World features an alternate Gered Markowitz cover image. The box is a rigid card, lift-off lid variety and comes with a 144-page book, featuring new liner notes, period photos etc. It also comes with five postcards.
