Keith is the Weller fan who asked the questions about the missing TSC gigs which I forwarded to this forum. If anyone has any ideas about these gig(s) Keith and myself would appreciate it very much.
Welcome on board, Keith.
Cheers
MartinKeithHi all!
First off thank you so very much to Martin for asking about this. He’s really a fantastic guy and the biggest Jam/TSC/Weller fan that I know in Germany, as well as a long time fan. Secondly, I apologize for my inability to type or speak German. I’ve been struggling for decades just to perfect my French and be as good as I can at it (which is not very good at all!), so I’m sorry I’ll have to use English.
I’ve read some of the replies by using the „crappy“ Chrome translator, and there seems to be some speculation and questioning of my research. The old Paul Weller Live Archive is very old, and if you look at it there are many venues that were unknown. If you look at the current version of Mr. Cools Dream, there are also venues that are unknown, dates of concerts that are wrong and other things which can cause confusion. I assure you that my research has filled in many of those unknowns, corrected dates, uncovered previously unknown concerts and even some of the dates from the cancelled 1985 North American tour – which are still previously unpublished.
To „Start“, they *did* play for certain in Frankfurt in 1985. I know it is going back a few years, but I’ll give you a link to it in this message. As far as if they played in Stuttgart, that I do not know. Going by what I do know, and how they were touring up to about 10 days in a row before taking a day off while touring in 1985 and 1987, it only makes sense that they would have done another date somewhere during the 1985 tour of Germany.
1985 – October 10 – Laeiszhalle Musikhalle, Hamburg, Germany
1985 – October 11 – Tempodrom, Treugast, Berlin, Germany
1985 – October 13 – Pfalzbau, Ludwigshafen, Germany
1985 – October ?? – Theaterhaus, Stuttgart, Germany
1985 – October 15 – Circus Krone, Munich, Germany
1985 – October 16 – Alte Oper, Frankfurt, Germany
1985 – October 17 – Philipshalle, Dusseldorf, Germany
1985 – October 19 – Deinze Brielpoort, Brussels, Belgium
I would think they would have played somewhere in October (Oktober) 12th or 14th. In a text file for a (digital) bootleg of the Circus Krone gig that I have there was a list of dates for the tour. Bootlegs are often incorrect as we all know, but sometimes they are correct. Despite this, I realize it may have not been Stuttgart that they played – but I wonder, geographically, what would have made sense to play on the 12th or 14th? Being that you all here are the Weller fans of Germany, you’d have a better idea of what would make sense in terms of driving around on a tour bus going from town to town.
Here’s some info about Frankfurt 1985: https://alteoper.de/de/programm/veranstaltung.php?id=196342136
Thanks everyone, and all the best!

Keith, I was in Hamburg – by then it was still Musikhalle and not Laiszhalle, but nevermind. Was a great gig, but as I was living in Hamburg until 1999 I have no recall of gigs he played in other cities then. When I moved to Heidelberg in 1999/2000 I became more aware of gigs in southern Germany. Still sad he cancelled Stadtpark Hamburg in 2000 – wanted to see him there. So the Heliocentric-Tour is the only one I missed in the last 25 years.

Staring at a grey sky, try to paint it blue - Teenage BlueThanks everyone for the nice welcome!
I contacted Spex last week, and got a reply today. I was hoping for an answer that would give me all the dates for the (German) 1985 tour, but my reply that I received just made things more confusing and muddled up!
Here’s a little factoid….The Style Council played in Germany more than they played in Wales and Scotland put together. They played Italy, Japan and Germany the most excluding England. It’s interesting, though, because as a collector of ticket stubs from the concerts they played, I see less of them up for sale or people that have them! I’ve got 3 and have only seen three others.
Here is the email I got from Spex….
„I’ve been searching through our Spex archive for the tour dates of Style Council. Unfortunately, we only had tour dates for Germany in the magazine at that time. I found three dates for 1984: October, 29th in Munich – Alabamahalle, October, 31st in Stuttgart – location unkknown and November, 1st in Frankfurt – location unknown. I guess the locations were still unknown at the publishing date of the issue, unfortunately, the following issue is currently missing in our archive.“
This is what I have for the 2nd (German) tour of 1984:
1984 – October 29 – Alabamahalle, Munich, Germany
1984 – November 1 – Robert Schumann Hall, Dusseldorf, GermanyThe venue and the date for the Munich date is well known and verified many times over, since it was taped for TV. The date in Dusseldorf I’ve never been able to verify, but it does seem „logical“ to me. Above, they mention about a concert in Stuttgart (URGH!) on the 31st. Being that the 30th and 31st were „off“ days, I suppose it could be possible they did play there in 1984 – or at least another city?
I just wish I could get my hands on the tour itineraries for 1984 and 1985 for all the Style Council European tours!

Keith, are you aware that you can still get access to the old PWLA via this link:

Hi JW,
Yes, I am aware. Years ago when it was active, I did contribute to it, especially for the Weller solo dates, venues and sets here in the States. I was in touch with Karl, who ran it, a few months back and he still has the entire site on backup and hopes to one day bring it back. He was kind enough to send me all the old Style Council graphics that were there for my records. :)
The problem with the old PWLA is that it didn’t list some names of venues (I’ve researched and gotten nearly all of them) and didn’t have some concerts listed that were played. Some dates were also wrong. Right now, I have the most complete and accurate list that there is – and it is unpublished. I have given it to Iain Munn a few weeks back, so in time it’ll be in a new version of Mr. Cools Dream I’d imagine.
I don’t know how to upload something off my hard drive into my message but I have a flier or ticket from a gig where there’s no where that I know it has been published about. It has been validated by Steve White as having taken place, too. It was a benefit gig for the miners. It happened on 1985 – February 18 – Teatro Tenda, Bologna, Italy. Benefit (Miners).
All the best!

How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?

Staring at a grey sky, try to paint it blue - Teenage BlueVon Paul Weller News:
There have been numerous articles going round the past few days regarding the upcoming Weller solo vinyl reissues. The articles say the 1st solo LP and „Heavy Soul“ are the records coming out on November 18. We are fairly certain that is incorrect. The actual records being released are the 1st solo LP and „Wild Wood.“ We’ve not heard of any future releases that are confirmed, but no doubt there will be more. For now, „Heavy Soul“ will remain one of rarest and pricey of the original pressings.

Staring at a grey sky, try to paint it blue - Teenage BlueDie Erste und die Vierte wäre ja auch zu „krass“ gewesen.

Was heißt „zu fairen Preisen“?

"And everything I know is what I need to know and everything I do's been done before."Bei den 1990er Platten bin ich ganz entspannt.
