Mein derzeitiger Lieblingssong von Jeff Tweedy stammt nicht von Wilco sondern von Uncle Tupelo: Black Eye. Könnte so auf jeder Wilco-Platte seinen unangefochtenen Platz finden.

Kannte bisher kaum was von Wilco. Hab´ mir gestern spontan die CD „Billy Bragg & Wilco – Mermaid Avanue“ von 1998 aufschwätzen lassen. Gefällt mir auch ganz gut, wenn auch nicht überragend. Wie ist diese Platte in das gesamte Wilco Schaffenswerk einzuordnen? Sind Wilco alleine ähnlich oder fällt das Album aus der Reihe?

Ich versuche gerade vergeblich, mit meiner YHF die EP von www.wilcoworld.net runterzuladen. Abspielen kann ich sie auch – aber die auf der HP angekündigten Anleitungen zum Download sind nirgendwo. Nur ein kleines schwarzes Fenster, das die EP spielt.

Kann mir jemand helfen, der die Prozedur schon hinter sich hat?

Hat sich erledigt – man muss abwarten, bis die EP einmal durchgelaufen ist, dann lässt sie sich problemlos runterladen.

soweit ich mich erinnern kann, musste man auf das ep cover klicken, dann startete der quicktime player mit einem fenster und in dem fenster stand unten in der ecke: download ep. und wenn man darauf geklickt hat, musste man die codenummer der yhf-cd eingeben…
ist aber schon etwas her!

Wilco's Jeff Tweedy Checks into Rehab Clinic

Ryan Schreiber reports:
The Chicago Tribune reports this afternoon that Wilco's Jeff Tweedy has cancelled a trip to Europe in order to check himself into a Chicago-based rehab facility. The paper reports that Tweedy has been struggling with recurring migraines for years, which he has been battling with prescription painkillers.

Tweedy's migraines, which have been an ongoing problem for him since he was a child, are well-documented: In one scene from the 2001 documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, Tweedy is shown throwing up in a bathroom after escalating tensions between he and now-ex-Wilco member Jay Bennett, a result of these headaches. As previously reported, Wilco's forthcoming album, A Ghost Is Born, has been pushed back to June 22nd, though it was revealed today that this is due to Tweedy's stay in rehab, and not to changes in the album's tracklist.

Despite this brief setback, the band intends to make good on their upcoming tour of the southern United States, which they've scheduled as a warm-up for a pending full-fledged tour that is being planned around the new album's release. They are also still confirmed to play Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival on May 28th. Those dates again:

Wilco Reveal Tracklist for Forthcoming Album & Book, Further Expand North American Tour

So you've read through the literary double-shot of Jeff Tweedy's hazy poetry collection Adult Head and Greg Kot's band biography, Wilco: Learning How to Die, and you've settled in with the band's latest release, A Ghost Is Born. But, aside from an endless barrage of tour dates, isn't there anything else to expect from the Wilco camp this year? I mean, they're not done, are they? There's still a whole 3½ months left of the year, right?

Right. No reason to panic at all: The Chicago roots-rockers are gearing up to release a whopping 160-page tome, simply titled The Wilco Book, which is set to feature a collection of essays, quotes about the band, photos, and– oh yes– an exclusive CD packed with previously unreleased material. Obviously, this disc will be the big draw for Wilco obsessives (although who wouldn't want a knee-high stack of dreamy John Stirratt candids?), and indeed, the announcement of this upcoming book/CD combo– even sans tracklist and pre-Ghost– already had fans eager for a taste of the new stuff. So, the bad news is that you'll have to wait until November for your pre-order to arrive, but a link on the band's website has finally given names to the 12 new tunes that constitute the accompanying 40-minute disc. Oh yes, it's a tracklist:

The exact history of each of these tracks is a bit vague, but the collection is reportedly culled from unissued material (both full songs and instrumental jams) recorded during the improvisational rehearsals for A Ghost Is Born, as well as other sessions held over the past two years. As most diehards know, Wilco has an abundance of demos and other rare tracks in the vault stemming from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sessions and onward. A handful of these were officially released on last year's More Like the Moon EP, while other gems are floating around, unofficially, on various bootlegs.

Woher ist eigentlich 'Late Greats' bekannt? War das mal ein Mini-Hit oder so?
