werde aber nicht richtig warm damit.
klingt mir wie eine band die alles kennt und kann und eine super-raffinierte platte machen will.
muß immer an die alten GAME THEORY denken, die haben auch so ein clevere verdrehte 60ies punk musik gespielt.
beide band klingen irgendwie….nervös?--
"Können Sie Klavier spielen?" "Weiß nicht, mal versuchen."Schwer zu empfehlen sind auch die Soloalben von New Pornographers-Sängerin Neko Case. Von ihrem letzten Album „Blacklisted“ kann ich einfach nicht genug kriegen. Anspieltipps: „Things that scare me“, „deep red bells“, „tightly“. Berührungsängste mit Country sollte man allerdings nicht haben…

Well, probably not, but Newman does brandish those avatars in a statement on Matador’s website about the band’s in-progress new album, which he guesses will be finished by mid-March and in stores by September, which is all rather impressive considering that Newman spent much of last year either recording or touring for his solo release, The Slow Wonder, which is a whole other kind of awesome. Newman’s „fascination“ with combining an ebow and a baritone guitar to sound like a cello or a bowed guitar is also consonant with a possible art-rock orientation. But don’t expect an ELP-style caravan of semis next time the Pornos come to town: Newman promises no actual cello player („they take up too much room“), nor will they actually bow a guitar and end up „looking like a guitar-bowing idiot.“
The other good news, in addition to the general lack of waiting, is that Neko Case and Nora O’Connor will both sing on the new record, and that Dan „Destroyer“ Bejar is reportedly contributing much more to this record than on 2003’s Electric Version. And Newman may be planning a dreadlock holiday of his own: „We’re still trying to find a way to insert some dub/white reggae in the mix, just as an intellectual exercise, to see if we can do it without being dropped from the label.“ He telepathically hastened to add, „I know it sounds awful but it will all work out.“

Neues Album „Twin Cinema“ vermutlich erhätlich Ende August.
If you call him Carl, he may not answer you…not that we’ve tried. But just because A.C. Newman, who recently made pop hearts swoon with his solo effort The Slow Wonder, has a new and acronymic name, it doesn’t mean he’s not still doing what he does best. Yes, Mr. Newman is, of course, a member of one of Canada’s finest exports (after Nickleback, of course), the New Pornographers, who are reportedly just finishing up work on their third full-length, Twin Cinema. Sources at Mint, the band’s Canadian label, tell us Twin Cinema will be finished and ready for your grubby little hands on August 23– we presume that date will be the same for the Matador release in the U.S., but that’s currently unconfirmed. They also hit us up with a tracklist, and you know we love that:
