"Kunst ist schön, macht aber viel Arbeit" (K. Valentin)gypsy-tail-windDas Billy Bang-Album habe ich schon seit ein paar Tagen im Körbchen. Das mit dem Film schaffe ich eh nicht und werde wie üblich die CD bestellen – freue mich sehr darauf!
Bei mir wird es auch die CD werden. LPs bestelle ich praktisch nur noch wenn es keine physische Alternative gibt. Nur ein Download ist doch ein wenig „dünn“. Es hängt aber auch davon ab was ich mir bestelle. Und den Film würde ich auch nicht schaffen.

Valentin)Jim Harrod feilt noch an seiner Frankly Jazz Seite und hat einiges anl Musik hochgeladen, mehr Bud Shank mit Gary Peacock, Frank Strazzeri mit seinem Freund Mouse Bonati am Saxophon und Carmell Jones, Jones mit Harold Land… und ich denk vieles davon (= die Sachen die jetzt bei soundcloud stehen, nur audio, nicht die youtube videos) gab es bis jetzt nirgends zu hoeren…

This historic release brings together previously unknown and unissued recordings along with rarities captured during three of the four California trips Bird made during his too-short life.
Among the crown jewels on this set are “How High the Moon” and “Fifty-Second Street Theme” from his historic engagement with Dizzy Gillespie at Billy Berg’s in 1945. Also included are three previously unknown performances from a 1948 “Jazz at the Philharmonic” concert at the Shrine Auditorium. Most intriguingly, the complete recordings of the infamous July 1952 “naked party” at the Altadena ranch of Jirayr Zorthian are included. Recording engineer Doug Benson has done a remarkable job of restoring these recordings to the highest possible audio fidelity. Included in this set is an extensive essay by producer John Burton describing the circumstances under which these recordings were made as well as rarely-seen photographs from Bird’s trips to L.A.--

Sehr kurios, die Informationen sind so dürftig, dass ich nicht weiß, was das eigentlich sein soll. Und was soll das sein: „The Custodian’s Mix“? Habe ich all den Jahren noch nie gehört. Wirklich sehr seltsame Veröffentlichungspolitik.
