COLUMBIA RECORDS TO RELEASE DEVILS & DUST ON APRIL 26
Columbia Records will release Bruce Springsteen’s nineteenth album, ‚Devils & Dust,‘ on April 26. ‚Devils & Dust‘ features twelve new Springsteen songs.‚Devils & Dust‘ Track List

Springsteen is planning a tour to accompany the release of the album. Details will be announced shortly

Staring at a grey sky, try to paint it blue - Teenage BlueStimmt – haha, Bruce ist ja in der tat sehr begeistert vom REM-Songwriting (obwohl hieß das nich: „All the way to reno“?), auf der anderen Seite: Wenn einer über amerikanische Käffer singen darf, dann der Meister!!

Hoffentlich wirds aber ne E-Street Tour !!!Was mir ein wenig Sorgen bereitet, ist die Tatsache das Brendan O’Brien wiedermal als Produzent fungiert. War nämlich nicht so angetan von der Rising Produktion.
Na ja mal schauen, ich persönlich würde mich auf ein Album im Nebraska / Tom Joad Stil freuen.--
Das mit R.E.M. stach mir auch direkt ins Auge.

...WO finde ich WO? [/COLOR]Irre ich mich oder ist das einfach nur das Album zur Ghost of Tom Joad-Tour 1996 ? gut die hälfte der Songs hab ich doch schon auf Boots der entsprechenden Tour…..neues Album ist also nur teilweise richtig. Das wird dann wohl in der Tat komplett akkustisch sein.

gerade nach „the rising“ wäre ein akkustisches album für mich genau das richtige. und eine dementsprechende tour sowieso.

Hier noch ein paar Infos zum neuen Album:
(AP – New York) The seeds for Bruce Springsteen’s new album Devils & Dust were sown nearly a decade ago, when the singer-songwriter launched his first-ever solo acoustic tour.
„I was so excited after playing on that tour, I’d get off the stage and go write,“ Springsteen told The Associated Press about those 1995-96 dates. „Then I put those songs on the shelf for a while, until I had a chance to revisit them.“ The visit is now complete, with a 12-song album due in stores on April 26 – Springsteen’s first release of all-new material since his September 11-themed The Rising in July 2002. A tour was planned to follow the release, although Springsteen said it was unclear if he would perform alone or with a small band.
Two of the new album’s songs, The Hitter and Long Time Comin‘, were actually written and performed on The Ghost of Tom Joad tour. But not all the material dates back that far; the title track was written around the start of the war in Iraq, Springsteen said. „It works as a metaphor for all the music underneath it, the individual stories of people wrestling with their demons,“ Springsteen said of the title track. „A lot of it is set in the west, in what feels like a rural setting. It’s about people working through their confusions, sometimes well and sometimes tragically,“ he said in a telephone interview earlier this week. Springsteen opted to record without the E Street Band for Devils & Dust. The core group was Springsteen on guitar and other instruments, producer Brendan O’Brien on bass and drummer Steve Jordan, who had produced last year’s 23rd Street Lullaby album by Springsteen’s wife, Patti Scialfa.
In keeping with his pattern of recording, the new album is a quieter, more acoustic affair than The Rising. Springsteen, now 55, has alternated between large-scale rock records followed by more introspective material since 1982’s Nebraska was released two years after The River.
Pedal steel guitar, harmonica and violin fill in the sparse, rootsy arrangements. Springsteen, who says his vocal range has expanded with age, provides some higher-pitched vocals on the track All I’m Thinking About.
Springsteen said the accompanying tour would be an acoustic affair whether he performs alone or with a band, targeting theaters and smaller venues. „I was actually signed as an acoustic act, and I’ve always enjoyed playing acoustic,“ Springsteen said. „Even when I was in a band, back in my early days, I was always writing songs that weren’t meant for the band.“--

GOTJ und Nebraska waren beides totale Kracher. Das kann garnicht schief gehen. Und in der zweiten Jahreshälfte dann egrene auch ein neues E-Street-Album.

So, heute gekauft, zu Dreivierteln durch. Ich bin überrascht und zwar positiv. So wenig ich mit The Rising anfangen konnte (immer noch mehr als mit vielen anderem), so sehr gefällt mir Devils & Dust.
Sicherlich nicht die E-Street-Band, aber die (oder besser: deren Sound) sollte man auch nicht überschätzen und einfach überlegen, wie unterschiedlich Springsteen-Platten schon klangen. D & D ist für mich die erste Bruce-Platte seit Tunnel of Love, deren Sound zu den Liedern passt. Und das andere Geheimnis ist ganz simple das Song-Material. Geht ins Ohr, nimmt mit. Die Texte auf Tom Joad fand ich ja klasse, aber die Songs gingen zu lang, zu sehr auseinander (mit Ausnahmen, Youngstown zB). Hier passt es wieder zusammen.
Ich bin gespannt, wie sich die Platte nach weiteren Durchgängen macht.--
If you talk bad about country music, it's like saying bad things about my momma. Them's fightin' words.Schönes Album. Natürlich wieder mit der patentierten Springsteen-Melodie. Und für den Titelsong gehört die Hälfte der Tantiemen Willy DeVille („Just Your Friends“). Trotzdem ziemlich toll.

Wenn wir schon alles falsch machen, dann wenigstens richtig.Ich bin leider etwas enttäuscht. Es hieß, dass das Album wieder rauher sei. Aber nee: die Produktion ist transparent, die Drums mitunter glasklar. Dust? Giant Sand oder Calexico klingen nach Wüste, „Devils & Dust“ klingt nicht einmal weder nach dem einen, noch dem anderen. Die Produktion von Brendan O’Brian funktioniert bei der E-Street Band m.E. einwandfrei. Hier hingegen hätte ich mir eher mehr Akustik, weniger Hochglanzproduktion gewünscht. Um Längen von Nebraska, bei Weitem von Tom Joad entfernt. Gleichwohl die Songs durchaus gefallen. Wächst vielleicht, eher nicht. Schade.

Sehe ich ja eher anders. Nebraska gab’s nur einmal,d as kommt nicht wieder. Ich finde die Produktion passt eher zu „reduzierter“ Musik wie eben hier auf D & D. Rising fand ich zu glatt geschmirgelt, da fehlte diese Wall of Sound alter Produktionen.
