Die „Bob Gibson Legacy“ verkauft zur Zeit eine limitierte CD-R-Edition von Gibsons 1970er Album, die vier Bonustracks eines Bob Gibson-Auftrittes enthält, bei dem er von den „Flying Burrito Brothers“ begleitet wurde:

*) Funky in the Country (bonus track)
*) Sam Stone (bonus track)
*) About Time (bonus track)
*) For Lovin‘ Me (bonus track)

Die vier Lieder wurden im September 1971 in „The Record Plant“, Hollywood, Kalifornien mitgeschnitten.

The CDR of Bob Gibson, the self-titled album, includes four tracks from a live radio show featuring Bob Gibson and the Flying Burrito Brothers and special guest Byron Berline. The Capitol album, despite the scratchy quality of this “needle-drop” recording, is a must-have for Gibson collectors. Hopefully, a high quality, official re-issue will be available someday, but now, this CDR version keeps the songs alive.

Bob Gibson (Capitol, 1970)
This was Bob’s first experience with multi-track recording. And it would be a quarter of a century before he would again record on a major label. Produced in Los Angeles by former business partner, Roy Silver, it features the support of a multitude of high profile musical friends – among them, members of The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Spanky and Our Gang, as well as old partner, Hamilton Camp. Included is one of the first recordings of John Prine’s Sam Stone. When Bob’s version started getting extensive airplay, Atlantic Records enjoined it in court so as not to overshadow Prine’s soon-to-be released debut album.

The CD-R available in our store includes the four bonus tracks listed below (tracks 11 to 14), recorded at The Record Plant, Hollywood, CA, in September, 1971

ach ja, die steht bei mir auch noch als LP, in der Hoffnung, alsbald adäquat ersetzt werden zu können….

ach ja, die steht bei mir auch noch als LP, in der Hoffnung, alsbald adäquat ersetzt werden zu können….

Dieser Tage habe ich die CD-R erhalten, die ich mir doch bestellt habe, obwohl ich mein arg knisterndes Vinyl-Album selbst auf CD-ROM überspielt habe. – Schließlich hat mich Gibsons Auftritt mit den „Flying Burrito Brothers“ interessiert, der aber nicht so besonders ist.

Ärgerlich ist nur der Umstand, dass die CD-R mit einem bedruckten Kunststofffolienaufkleber beschriftet wurde, weshalb auf der CD-Hülle ein Aufkleber „Glue back label on disc. DO NOT PLAY IN CAR STEREO“ angebracht wurde.

Die CD-R hat mit Versand nur 15,80 EUR gekostet, aber es ist doch ärgerlich, dass der bedruckte Kunststofffolienaufkleber die CD-R bald ruinieren wird, weshalb ich diese erst recht wieder selbst rechtzeitig überspielen muss.

Na, ja, hoffentlich kommt bald eine reguläre CD-Edition davon in den Handel.
