Der Thread zur Wiederveröffentlichung.
Ich bin von dem Album wirklich angetan, es ist ein hochinteressantes Werk für Freunde des percussiongetränkten Free-Jazz. Oliver Lake gefällt mir ausgezeichnet, er ist die offensichtlichste Persönlichkeit, die dieses Album durchgehend prägt.
Eine Frage: In den sehr hilfreichen Linernotes steht, Lake würde auf „Echos“ (Seite 1) ein Sopran Sax verwenden und auf „Recreation“ (Seite 2) Flöte. Meiner Ansicht nach ist es genau umgekehrt.

Das hatte ich auch gedacht, wollte aber zuerst nochmal hören, vor ich da Nachfrage… ob Seite 1 und Seite 2 vertauscht sind, ob Looker die Seiten verwechselt (weil sie vielleicht immer schon vertauscht waren)? Wisst Ihr, kramer und weilstein, dazu mehr?
Jedenfalls ein tolles Album!

The Black Artists’ Group of St. Louis (BAG) formed in the late 1960s as an arts collective devoted to raising black consciousness, battling social injustice, and exploring the far reaches of experimental performance. Growing out of the Black Arts Movement, BAG was unique with its blending of music, poetry, drama, dance, and the visual arts. Through their interdisciplinary approach, BAG addressed many of the day’s most pressing social issues and brought awareness to the struggles faced by Black city residents. Beyond St. Louis, BAG’s musicians became influential in Europe and in New York, where members helped to found the Loft Jazz scene. Although BAG’s life in St. Louis was brief, several of their members have gone on to impressive careers in the arts. Locally, the group’s spirit lives on in the many St. Louis musicians who cut their chops learning to play in BAG’s community arts classes. Through rare archival footage and interviews with the collective’s key players, BAG: Creation Equals Movement shines a light on this untold St. Louis story of passion, creative vision, and community.
