Auswertung der Umfrage – Die 20 besten Tracks von John Hiatt
Von 17 Teilnehmern wurden insgesamt 5.270 Punkte vergeben, die sich auf exakt 129 unterschiedliche Tracks verteilen.
59 Tracks (46% aller Tracks) wurden dabei nur ein einziges Mal, weitere 26 Tracks (20% aller Tracks) nur zwei Mal genannt. Das heißt, daß nahezu zwei Drittel aller Tracks in weniger als drei Teilnehmerlisten vertreten sind, was im Vergleich zu anderen Umfragen ein sehr hoher Wert ist und darauf hindeutet, daß das Werk von John Hiatt hier durchaus sehr unterschiedlich wahrgenommen und beurteilt wird.Auswertungsregeln:
Für Platz 1 gibt es 25 Punkte, für Platz 20 dann noch 6 Punkte.

Die erreichten Punkte der Tracks werden multipliziert mit der umgekehrten Reihenfolge der Platzierung in der Liste des jeweiligen Teilnehmers, sprich: die erreichten Punkte des Tracks auf Platz 1 werden mit dem Faktor 20 gewichtet, die des Tracks auf Platz 2 mit dem Faktor 19, bis runter zu den erreichten Punkten des Tracks auf Platz 20 der jeweiligen Teilnehmerliste, die noch mit dem Faktor 1 gewichtet werden.

Speziell die Zusammenfassungen der jeweiligen Listen incl,, Coverversion waren sehr interessant.
Das Wiederholen und -entdecken hat Spaß gemacht. Besonders das Album The Open Road fiel mir dabei positiv auf, nachdem es bei Erscheinen nicht so lange Aufmerksamkeit bekam wie vielleicht andere Alben.

Die Plätze 20 bis 17
Um in die TOP 20 zu kommen, mußte dann schon die Grenze von 75 Punkten überwunden werden.
Dort liegt dann ein Grüppchen von vier Tracks (aus zwei Alben) sehr dicht beieinander.20) Damn this Town (76 / 5)
Damit ist Damn this Town allerdings nur die Nr. 3 vom 2011er-Album „Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns“. Etwas überraschend für mich, hätte ich doch vor der Umfrage Einiges darauf gewettet, daß dies der am höchsten eingeschätzte Track von diesem Album sein würde.19) Stolen Moments (78 / 4)
Stolen Moments ist die Nr. 3 vom 90er-Album „Stolen Moments“.
Eine hohe Durchschnittspunktzahl, aber für ein noch besseres Ergebnis zu selten nominiert.18) Down Around My Place (78 / 5)
Die gleiche Punktzahl wie „Stolen Moments“, aber eine Nennung mehr bringt Down Around My Place auf Rang 18.
Für mich überraschend, hatte ich diesen Track doch gar nicht auf dem Schirm für eine TOP 20-Platzierung.17) Bring Back Your Love to Me (81 / 4)
Der Track auf Platz 17 hat dann wieder eine Nominierung weniger, aber aufgrund der sehr hohen Durchschnittspunktzahl zwei Punkte mehr als „Down Around My Place“ gesammelt. Bring Back Your Love to Me hätte ich auch vor der Umfrage auf den hinteren Rängen der TOP 20 erwartet.Zum Track auf Platz 16 ist es dann ein etwas größerer Abstand.

Daß „Perfectly Good Guitar“ dann doch deutlich vor „Stolen Moments“ auf Platz 3 landen würde, hätte ich dagegen nicht erwartet.
Auch daß „Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns“ mit deutlichen Abstand vor „Walk On“ das beste Nicht-A&M-Album stellen würde, ist etwas überraschend.
Liveaufnahmen spielten mit Ausnahme eines Tracks vom Album „Hiatt Comes Alive at Budokan?“ sowie eines Single-Tracks überhaupt keine Rolle.Letztlich ist kein einziges Studioalbum ohne Punkte geblieben.
„Bring the Family“ und „Slow Turning“ konnten als einzige Alben alle Tracks in die Wertung bringen.--

Auf den Plätzen 16 bis 12 liegen fünf Tracks mit einem Abstand von nur neun Punkten eng beieinander.
16) Icy Blue Heart (88 / 6)
Eröffnet wird der Reigen mit Icy Blue Heart vom 88er-Album „Slow Turning“. Damit ist dieser Track allerdings nur die Nr. 6 von diesem Album.15) Through Your Hands (92 / 6)
Der beste Track vom 90er-Album „Stolen Moments“ befindet sich mit Through Your Hands auf Platz 15.14) Lipstick Sunset (94 / 6)
Zwei Stimmen mehr für Lipstick Sunset, den am fünfthöchsten platzierten Track vom 87er-Album „Bring the Family“.
Den Track hätte ich vor der Umfrage sogar knapp in den TOP 10 vermutet.13) Crossing Muddy Waters (96 / 6)
Wieder zwei Stimmen mehr für Crossing Muddy Waters, das damit der mit Abstand favorisierte Track des gleichnamigen 2000er-Albums ist.12) Paper Thin (97 / 5)
Paper Thin auf Platz 12 hat eine Nominierung weniger, hat durch die hohe Durchschnittpunktzahl aber einen Punkt mehr als „Crossing Muddy Waters“ erreicht.
Auch dies ein Track, den ich eigentlich in den TOP 10 erwartet hatte.Zum Track auf Platz 11 ist es dann wieder ein etwas größerer Abstand.
