IAN NOE – Between the Country

Aktuell auch mein Album des Jahres. Ian Noe ist ein überaus begabter Storyteller und hat seine Songs hier mit Dave Cobbs Hilfe optimal präsentiert. Wer Singer-Songwriter, Folk, Country und Americana schätzt, kann hier ein paar der besten Tracks des Jahres finden (etwa „Irene“ und „Letter to Madeline“). Wie es das Review von Kentucky Country Music ausdrückt: Die Songs bieten „fascinating characters and potent imagery, hard lessons and harsh realities“.

Im Titelsong geht es um Gewaltverbrechen, nicht ganz untypisch für das Album:

Ja, ich habe auch eine Weile überlegt deswegen – aber ich hatte das Album ja schon in der Woche vor dem Erscheinungstermin im Stream bei NPR gehört, von daher passt es für mich.

Ok. Schade. Im Juni hätte es so vielleicht ein paar mehr Stimmen bekommen. Ich habe mir das Album zwar ganz artig auf Vinyl gekauft konnte es trotzdem erst im Juni im Stream (für unterwegs)hœren.
