Gerald Wilson war bis ins sehr hohe Alter aktiv und das auch auf meist ebenso hohem Niveau. Nur in den 80ern hat er wenig veröffentlicht. Durststrecke? Durch Lehrtätigkeit oder Brotjobs eingespannt? Wer weiß …
Ich kenne noch zwei andere Alben von ihm, Portraits (1964) und Equinox (ja, nach dem Coltrane-Stück benannt, 1968), beide gut bis sehr gut.
