The Gun Club – Miami (1982)
Eine Band, die ich fast vergessen hätte, obwohl der sehr gute Miami Nachfolger The Las Vegas Story bei mir noch im Plattenschrank steht. Musik, die allmusic sinngemäß als „the missing link between The Eagles and Nirvana“ beschreibt. „This is hardcore snake-charming music (…), evil, smoky, brash, and libidinally uttered. Their spooky version of an already creepy tune by Creedence Clearwater Revival, „Run Through the Jungle“ runs the gamut from sexual nightmare to voodoo ritual gone awry.“ Der wohl manisch veranlagte Gun Club-Leader Jeffrey Lee Pierce hat sich mit 37 Jahren leider totgesoffen. Aber vielleicht gehört das mit dazu …
Die Covers von The Gun Clubs Studioalben waren meist sehr gut.
