Als Weihnachtsgeschenk gibt’s ab 15. Dezember ein Bluegrass-Live Album von Bonny Billy. Vinyl & digital only!
Bonnie ‚Prince‘ Billy, or Will Oldham, to friends and family, should conduct seminars on aging gracefully.
Though you’d never guess it from the 39 year old’s self-deprecating stage manner — he’s all about lumpy physiques and shrinking hairlines — he just happens to be one of indie rock’s most prolific and relevant songwriters.
He’s still found time to hit the studio, despite releasing Beware in March and despite his relentless touring schedule. According to Paste Magazine, Billy will release another album, Funtime Comedown, on Dec. 15 via Sea Note Records.
Oldham’s never one one to rest on his laurels, so expect a few changes for the album. Gone is the minimal Appalachian folk and he’s recruited the Picket Line, a Lousville, Ky. bluegrass band, to support him on the album.
Just as the former actor has done so many times in his career, he’s reinventing himself. Like another musician of a similar moniker (or symbol), he’s changed his stage name — for now, he’ll be simply called Bonny Billy. Just don’t expect him to be wearing purple blouses anytime soon.
Here are the tracks on Funtime Comedown:
„Ohio River Boat Song“
„May It Always Be“
„Hemlocks And Primroses“
„The Glory Goes/Wolf Among Wolves“
„We All Us Three Will Ride“
„Easy Does It“
„Lay And Love“
„Rider“
„Rambling Fever“
„You Want That Picture“
„Idle Hands Are The Devil’s Playthings“
„Death To Everyone“
