The King‘s guard parade

Many people dream and make a wish.
Perhaps some of them get what they want at last,
You’re going to hear about a little boy, I know
That most of all he wanted a trumpet.

When he was eight, he got his present
And there was his fine and shiny trumpet,
He played all day until he was tired and warm
And fell asleep with his trumpet in his arms.

There he dreamt that he was marching,
So proud in the King’s guard parade,
And the flags were fluttering in the sunshine
And the people stood lined up in rows.

There he dreamt that he was marching
Leading the King’s guard parade
And the people cheered and the King smiled
And said: „This town can be proud of him.“

Then when he got older, became a man
He went to the military, fought wars for his land,
But when the officer shouted „Stop“ and
yelled „Look out!“
His thoughts would drift into another beat.

There he dreamt that he was marching,
So proud in the King’s guard parade,
And the flags were fluttering in the sunshine
And the people stood lined up in rows.

There he dreamt that he was marching
Leading the King’s guard parade
And the people cheered and the King smiled
And said: „This town can be proud of him.“
