Hier die Kritik. Wenn auch in den Referenzen („Yesterday“?) teils diskutabel, doch sehr begeistert:
Heart-fondling new-dimensional pop by London/Brighton septet.
Singer-writers DC Cane and J Russo’s second album assembles a pop group with en suite violins and cellos, which is unusual, then builds every song and syllable around their lovely, sorrowing tone and flow, like a distillation of Yesterday and Eleanor Rigby. They could even be a singles band. Opening track I Start Fires alternately floods and chills with mighty singalong-desperation choruses („I build it up/Then I tear it all down“) and stripped, dry verses of pain and longing for comfort („Medicate my bones“). Gripping, serious pop. Grand, sliver-of-hope outro Bury Me Not could be a hit too. Powerfully executing the beautiful idea of sounds rich and bare getting to the heart of personal inner conflict – who to love/how to love? – this cultish band should be up there, right of Radiohead, left of Coldplay, delivering marvels to the masses.
