NEWS:
With 8 new songs airing since December 2006, and even more
this week, it’s been a fun time to be watching Madness gigs
these last 18 months, culminating in these Hackney shows this
week.
Sure Moondance 92, or Madstock 96 brought the first joy of
new songs post comeback, some lucky people heard more new tunes
1st time out debuted in the USA and a big slab of new material
in 1999 on the tour that played Wonderful, and the delights of
2004/5’s Dangermen shows packed with songs never Madnified before.
But right now we are drinking from the biggest ‚New Madness written
songs‘ fountain since back in the 80’s when albums poured out of
the doors of Stiff Records. The New Material is here, it’s live
and the studio album promises seem nearer than this „3 Months from
now“ guessing game has ever lead us to hope.
A September release?
Now Vince Carden and Foley tell us of a blinding night in Dublin,
after the gig and that Lee Thompson is even more of a legend than
he currently was to the Irish lads. This centres around a mini disc
of the new tracks being played to them till 5am over many drinks.
It all sounds good according to the Vince’s who both claim to have
been too drunk to take in all the delights, of over 20 new Madness
tracks. Lee played some Damaged Goods recordings to the boys also
in Ireland.
Manager Hugh told Vince C there are 22 Madness tracks fully
finished and recorded, that could even become 2 albums. While
on the message board recently Chrissy boy is estimating 14 tracks
for the new album. While there was once a brief mention of a
double album, we still dont know if that dream will come true,
but Studio footage videos up on youtube and a 2nd Folgate moody
board, shows some of the final work with the band, and Clive being
completed. Simon Griffiths who appears with Damaged Goods equally
tell us the new albums been played to him briefly when Lee was
visiting. The cake is almost ready.
With these show’s at Hackney, The live album precedes the studio
record in the form of a USB wristband. It’s good to be a Madness
fan in 2008.
So What of the First night…
