Zum Thema was den nun Prog’d und was nicht: Deep Purple ist für mich kein Prog-Rock, die sehe ich in der Liga des Bluesrock basierenden Genres welches Hard Rock zum Heavy Metal geführt hat. Ähnlich Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Wishbone Ash oder Golden Earring. Bei all diesen Gruppen könnte man einzelne Stücke herausgreifen und zum Prog erklären (z.B. Child In Time, War Pigs, Astronomy, The King Will Come oder The Vanilla Queen), ein ganzes Prog Album finde ich aber in deren Oeuvre nicht.
Aussnahmen sind für mich Jethro Tull und Uriah Heep die jeweils eine Album Serie veröffentlicht haben, die ich für mich um Prog zähle (Salisbury – Magicians bzw. Aqualung – Passion Play).
