SOME SPIRIT NEWS:
So it’s July and The Duke Spirit are back in London after their sublime Mojave desert adventure, with new album in hand. Mixing is imminent and then it’s back to California to open for Queens Of The Stoneage at the Pacific Ampitheatre, July 22nd.
In the meantime, Liela has been doing some filming with UNKLE, so they can project a hollogram of her singing the track MAYDAY (an Unkle/The Duke Spirit collaboration) when they start doing the tour of their new album ‚War Stories‘. She’s hoping it’ll be like R2D2’s message from princess Leia, beamed across the room…She’ll have to wait and see, they are playing tonight at the Islington Academy. The UNKLE record is released in the U.K. on Monday (9th July).
Then, an even wierder twist of fate, Moss was asked to sing ‚Just like Honey‘ with Jesus and Mary Chain at one of Jarvis’s ‚Meltdown‘ festival shows in London…fucking hell! it was almost a little too difficult for more than one Spirit to control their excitement at this news.The band spent last week recording extra tracks for B-sides and stuff at Flood’s Bedroom Studio with a very cool lady called Catherine, and now loaded to the gills with new tunes, they are working out how to track list the next releases. If you were at the Wireless Festival you might have heard them play new songs, ‚Into The Fold‘, ‚The Step and The Walk‘ and ‚Sovereign‘? If not, you can catch them at the beautiful little Tapestry festival in Margham Park, Wales on 11th Aug and most definitely in a town near you this Autumn. Alright!
