atomJa, „Follow The Leader“ ist nach all den Jahren meine #1 von Eric B. & Rakim, da ist „Paid in Full“ meines Erachtens ein wenig schlecht gealtert, dennoch ein toller Track.
Als Single bevorzuge ich ja von „Paid in Full“ die Coldcut-Version.
Was hälst du von ihrer Debüt-Single „Eric B. is President“?
Im wesentlichen beschreibt Rakim in „Follow The Leader“ die Aufgabe eines MCs bzw. Erzählers, der den Zuhörer in seinen Bann zieht („Follow me into a solo, get in the flow, and you could picture, like a photo, music makes mellow, maintains to make, melodies for MCs, motivates the breaks.“) und sich in Form einer Lektion über seinen Zuhörern positioniert.
Ohnehin das MCing selbst das Lieblingsthema von Rakim.
