scheint ja niemand hier zu besitzen. bestätigt jedenfalls wieder meinen eindruck, dass sie in den 80ern zurecht unbekannt waren. die ersten 7 Songs sind gar nichts für mich. Aber dann…

Jarvis Cocker first met John Peel at Sheffield Polytechnic in 1981 and handed him a demo of Pulp’s earliest material. A few weeks later John offered the band their first session. 12 years before they went on to top the charts.

„John Walters (the producer of the Peel Show) called my Grandma’s house (we didn’t have our own phone at the time) and broke the news that they?d like us to come to London to record a session.

Now, to say that we were excited by this news would be a slight understatement – this was our chance to be on the show that had been forming our whole musical outlook for the last 4 years! The only show in the world, as far as we were concerned, that meant anything. And us 4 idiots, who were all still at school (I’d just had my 18th birthday – Wayne, the drummer, was 15), were going to be allowed on it! This was heaven. This really was a dream come true.“

This is a double CD of the best of the recordings Pulp made for John Peel. Disc one contains their complete studio sessions, including their first ever and much sought after 1981 session. Disc two contains their complete concert recorded at the Queen Elizabeth Hall to celebrate 40 years of broadcasting by John. Contains sleeve notes by Jarvis.
