Wieder ein paar Neuigkeiten von Howevom giantsand.com board:

howe (home fry):

hi. happy easter too. good to hear the ups and downs of the reissue issue. but then i suppose when this issue gets brought up more then once it is already a reissue. unlike a used tissue, a well used issue can bring less aggrivation to a clammy grip. welp, i have been besotten on occasion by those in favor of additives to already finalized statements of sonic ploppings. and it makes me wonder and cringe some. i never like that i am severely requested to add tracks to the japanese version of these current records i manage to release. they insist on it. they feel insulted if i deny such a request. but it mucks up the record in my book…but then i am telling the folks that try and help me out with these releases that they must not know what they are doing….and that is not right either….especially when you consider how much of the transaltion ever really gets through one way or the other…..then maybe it only matters to me, and not to the floks over yonder. as for the reissue reissue, glum was definitely a case in point…and an experiment too. since it was the most requested album , i finally gave in to get it out there and then began to over think it and almost reissued it with alternative mixes. .. . . only because they were available …..but then i came to my senses …somewhat….and only added some extra tracks from that time that i cut for reasons that no longer applied. and then rethought how i might sequence the record if i was back there then. what i have noticed over the years is that when virgin ears hear something ….it will always cause a quarm to hear it again way later in some other alteration. that is why smart bands refuse to allow record company people to hear their record until it is completely done. otherwise a can of worms will apply itself. anyhow…..i think the most essential ingredient for these hopefully someday reissues will be remastering….because most of the early records do not sound as good as they could (i hope) since they were mastered specifically for vinyl first….and that makes a big difference. also i hate long cds….so i am not so in favor of bonus tracks. i think most of my records were too long….and long for the days of the long player still…..20 minutes a side…….ahhhhhhhhh……sweeeet…(uttered like napoleon dynamite) ….the big question is how to assemble the giant sand box set ?!?!?!?!?
