Bedenke bitte auch den niedrigeren Altersdurchschnitt bei den englischen Schreiberlingen. Hier ein schönes Zitat von Peter Buck aus dem auch ansonsten exzellenten Buch „In Their Own Write – Adventures In The Music Press“ (Paul Gorman):
„I get a kick out of the English Mags, because they´re always hiring a new generation of kids to write. They always have 23-year-olds who´ve never heard of The Beatles. It changes the way, the music business is over there. Here, people still can remember the Talking Heads when they were a brand-new band…“ und weiter „…but there is a lack of critical background. You read these things – „This performance by the Manic Street Preachers was the best performance ever.“ You read a real lot of those. Guys who are third on the bill get that. And then you buy the records and go, „This is second-rate Clash“….
