Das Album gefällt mir. Ich mag ihre Stimme. Aber es ist schon ein ziemlicher Seelenstriptease. Eine allzu saubere Trennung von Isbell scheint das nicht gewesen zu sein. „No matter how clear I keep the memories, you rewrite them so you can sleep.“ Das sitzt als Erwiderung auf seine sehr persönlichen Lyrics auf „Foxes in the snow“. Uns hat dieses unschöne Kapitel zwei bemerkenswerte Alben gebracht. Wobei das Songwriting von Isbell m.E. nochmal in einer anderen Liga spielt.
