mehr oder weniger ausgedacht ist. Iverson hatte sich doch schon vor über 30 Jahren mit Eric Dolphy beschäftigt, war jedoch Ende der 50er kein Musiker, all seine späteren Erkenntnisse und Analysen als junger Mann spielen da natürlich mit rein.
Während Roy Eldridge dreimal hintereinander ins Five Spot ging, um Ornette und Don Cherry zu hören (Newport Rebels ist ja eine LP mit Eric Dolphy, Roy Eldridge, Jo Jones, Mingus etc. und Ornette Coleman sogar auf dem Cover!) Allerdings wurden keine Coleman Stücke für „Newport Rebels“ aufgenommen und überhaupt irgendein Bezug zum ersten Album ist natürlich nicht gut dokumentiert.
