Tracks 1 to 6 have incorrect titles on this release. When they were first issued, titles were assigned, but by the time they reappeared in The Complete Johnny Hodges Verve Small Group Sessions 1955-61, the correct titles had been researched and confirmed.

The tape boxes are just marked S.F. but there are indications on the master sheets that this session was recorded at The Cellar – the nightclub where they were presumably working at the time. This is most definitely a studio recording.
Ben Webster came away from the date with a tape of the last six tunes, which, as other notations indicate, may be his compositions. Storyville Records in Denmark licensed the tape from his estate. Since the tape did not have the song titles, the label made up its own. It is also worth noting that Storyville gives to dates (22 and 23) for this session, in contradiction to the Verve information.
