Dick Marx and John Frigo were not just a house band, they were Mister Kelly’s house band during it’s hottest years. While booked on the same bills as legends (Ella Fitzgerald, Lenny Bruce, Billie Holiday, Mort Sahl), many came just to see them– especially fellow performers. Their piano and bass were integral to the club’s sound.
ich hatte jüngst auch ein bisschen nachgeforscht, wer die beiden eigentlich sind, weil ich sie speziell auf dem lucy-reed-album sehr interessant fand (und durchaus mit sehr viel jazzgefühl ausgestattet).
