Seffer/Kessler muessen nochmal warten… fuer einen tiefen Griff (via youtube) in die Kiste mit den 50er Jahre Alben, von denen uns keiner was gesagt hat… Was sind die Vibories? im Wesentlichen wohl ein Vibraphon mit Tasten, das Leonard Feather eine Weile vermarktete

The Viborie is a vibraphone with an attachment consisting of a three-octave keyboard with regular black and white piano keys, connected with a box that is placed on top of the vibes. The box contains small cylindrical solenoids, one to each note, to which are attached small bakelite mallets with cork tips. The unit was invented by Jack Harris and named by Leonard Feather.

Was das Album recht interessant macht, sind die Besetzungen, ein staendiger Wechsel, aber jetzt gerade laufen zB die zwei Tracks, auf denen Kenny Drew Klavier spielt und Sonny Clark das Viborie, die umgekehrte Kombination gibt es auch auf zwei Tracks, andere Viborie Spieler sind zweimal Gerry Wiggins und je einmal Feather selbst und Red Mitchell… in den Rhythmusgruppen sitzen zB Mitchell, Leroy Vinegar, Lawrence Marable und Stan Levey
