Heute ist der Geburtstag u.a. von Al Foster, Irene Kral und Steve Grossman – und gerade macht im Netz die Nachricht die Runde, dass Junior Mance verstorben sei – mit 92 Jahren. Das stehe auf der FB-Seite des Drummers Alvin Queen (die aber privat ist, soweit ich sehen kann).
Als nächstes daher sein Debut als Leader, „Junior“, 1959 für Verve aufgenommen (und bei mir seit Herbst im unten abgebildeten Japan-Reissue von 1990 im Regal):
