catchIm Rolling Stone gab es ein schönes, knackiges, informatives Special von Maik Brüggemeyer zu den The Go-Betweens. Obacht, der Mann ist ein Believer. Die ersten 2 Alben (Send me a Lullaby, Before Hollywood) sind etwas sperrig, zickig, angeschrägt mit den Fühlern im No Wave, New Wave und Post-Punk, disharmonisch wäre übertrieben, hier im Forum würde man es vermutlich so ausdrücken: muss man sich erarbeiten. Ab Spring Hill Fair wird es leichter, melodischer, gefälliger und gelegentlich auch seicht, aber ich möchte nicht einen Song missen. Der Sampler: „The Go-Betweens – 1978-1990“ wäre womöglich ein sinnvoller Einstieg.
Ich sehe die reduzierten Arrangements der ersten beiden Alben eher als Stärke. Den Rest muss man selber rausfinden. Ich wüsste jetzt nicht, was man sich da groß erarbeiten muss. Ich empfehle sie zumindest für @irrlicht als Einstieg.

Lindy Morrisons Drumsolo war damals eine absolut großartig gesetzte Stilverletzung für eine Post-Punk-Band. Der Song endet mit acht Drumschlägen, für jedes Foto einer.
