Ja, genau, da war er auch mit dabei. Habe mir auch gleich mal die M.D. Complete Columbia Album Collection rausgeholt und daraus wandert gleich die hier in den Player.

^ ist natürlich auch toll! Aber ich kenne „Four & More“/“My Funny Valentine“ schon deutlich länger und mag die unglaubliche Spannung, die bei dem Konzert in der Luft liegt (Miles‘ junge Sidemen erfuhren unmittelbar vor dem Gig, dass sie gratis spielen würden … ein Benefiz für irgendwas und der Boss hat grosszügig entschieden, dass alle gefälligst mitzumachen hätten). Ansonsten kenne ich von Coleman nicht sehr vieles, Harold Mabern ist mir grundsätzlich zu dick, zu gallertig … aber auf Timeless gibt es z.B. ein schönes Album mit Hilton Ruiz. Und klar, ich toleriere Mabern als Begleiter oder auch mit eigenen guten Bands (die frühen Prestige-Alben – keins ein Meisterwerk, aber schlecht sind sie gewiss nicht) durchaus, also auch hinter/mit Coleman.

atomWas ist denn das für ein Cover, gypsy? Das müsste doch die 1580 sein.
Ja, ich nehme im Normalfall einfach die Cover, die Allmusic eingestellt hat (und hole dort nur in Ausnahmefällen andere Versionen). Die Nummer wird wohl (ich hörte nur unterwegs an die Arbeit, MP3) jene der Connoisseur-CD sein, damals druckte man diese neuen Nummern auf die Cover, dahin wo einst die ursprünglichen standen (tat man auch bei allen „alten“ BN-CDs, ca. 1987-89). Müsste mal die Connoisseur-LP, die ich davon zuhause habe (auf CD habe ich die RVG-Ausgabe, die kommt vermutlich mit Original-Nummer, aber sicher bin ich auch nicht) anschauen, nehme an, auch die hat die neue Nummer drauf.
Das Griffin-Solo im ersten Stück ist grossartig, eins meiner allerliebsten überhaupt!
