The De’bonaires – Mother’s Son b/w Lanky Linda (Ping 1000)
Auf der A-Seite (ohne Hill, aber das ist seine Combo) ist Pat Patrick ausgiebig als Begleitstimme hinter dem Vokalensemble zu hören, auf der B-Seite trillert Hill am Klavier ein paar R&B-Klischees und Von Freeman spielt ein paar Fills, dann rifft er mit Patrick, der dann wiederum ein paar Begleitlinien spielen darf.

Ein paar Fills von Von Freeman, ein Backbeat von Wilbur Campbell und dann auch wieder Riffs von Patrick … und dann zum Schluss nochmal Von Freeman und das ist dann wohl die Stelle, wo man seinen späteren Ton schon erahnen kann.
Das vierte Stück, ebenso wie die beiden anderen von Hills Combo selbst (Ping 1002, Dot b/w Mal’s Blues) finde ich leider nirgendwo.
