With his good looks and popularity he was eventualy offered a small role as a gunner in a war movie called „Hell’s Horizon“ and was offered a 9 year contract, but Chet turned it down his responce was all i want to do is play music. he played the 1955 Newport Jazz Festival and was on the tonight TV show several times, some of those performances can be found on the album „The Newport Years Vol. 1“ chet went on tour in Europe „Live In Europe 1955“ and was the first american musician to play on german telavision.
