In the summer of ‘68, Herbie Hancock leaves Miles Davis. In November, he brings a new band into the Village Vanguard. Ron Carter isn’t available for every gig, so Herbie gets a sub named Buster Williams. The first seed for the Mwandishi band is planted here.
