zappa120 – Green Day: American Idiot

Green Day hätte ich von dir nicht unbedingt erwartet. Hast du das Trio mal live erlebt? Wahrscheinlich 1994, als Green Day noch weitestgehend unbekannt Support der Toten Hosen waren im Rahmen der Kauf mich-Tournee? Viele der ersten Punk-Generation Ende der 1970er taten sich ja schwer mit dem Punk-Revival um die ganzen Cali-Bands wie Green Day, NOFX und Offspring in den 1990ern.

Green Day waren ja vor ein paar Tagen wieder in Deutschland, als Headliner auf Rock am Ring und für eine eigenständige Show in der Berliner Waldbühne … mit den Donots als Support.

„Green Day“ mag ich schon immer sehr, genauer gesagt, seit „Dookie“. Außerdem schätze ich Billie Joe Armstrong sehr.

Und ja, ich hab sie damals natürlich mit den Hosen live gesehen.

Und auch wenn ich aus der „ersten Punk-Generation“ stamme, war ich ja nie Punk, auch wenn ich die Musik größtenteils mag. Deshalb konnte ich da auch völlig unvoreingenommen rangehen. Ob man was hören darf oder nicht, hat mich noch nie interessiert, mir macht ihre Musik Spaß, das ist das einzige, was zählt. Und „American Idiot“ ist für mich nach wie vor ein großartiges Album.
