Umfrage – Die 20 besten Tracks von Paul Simon

Wie angekündigt geht heute die Umfrage nach den 20 liebsten Tracks von Paul Simon an den Start. Der heute 82-Jährige blickt auf eine lange Karriere zurück. Erst letztes Jahr erschien sein insgesamt 15 Studioalbum. Bitte listet hier nur solche Tracks, die unter seinem Namen veröffentlicht wurden. Also z.B. auch keine Tracks von Simon and Garfunkel. Das Duo hatte seine eigene Umfrage. Hier geht es um den Solokünstler.

Bitte listet in diesem Thread die Eurer Meinung nach besten 20 Tracks aus der Diskographie dieses Musikers. Wenn besondere Tracks außerhalb der regulären Studio-Version gemeint sind, bitte ich das zu kennzeichnen. Ohne eine solche Kennzeichnung gehe ich wie gewohnt von der Erstveröffentlichung auf dem entsprechenden Studio-Album aus.

Die Modalitäten der Umfrage sind dieselben wie in den bisherigen Umfragen, die ich ausgewertet habe.

Abgabeschluss: Mittwoch, 24.07.2024 / 23:59 Uhr.

Auswertungsregeln:

Für Platz 1 gibt es 25 Punkte, für Platz 20 dann noch 6 Punkte. Bei Punktgleichheit zählt die höhere Anzahl der Nennungen des jeweiligen Tracks; sollte dann immer noch kein Sieger gefunden sein, gewinnt der Track, der die höhere Einzelplatzierung erzielt hat.

Wie gewohnt gibt es auch bei dieser Umfrage wieder eine Auswertung zum Konsensheini und Dissenshorst.

Schöne Listen, aber habt ihr bewusst auf Songs der letzten Alben verzichtet? Außer „Darling Lorraine“. Nachtrag: Und „That’s Where I Belong“ natürlich. Beide toll.

Auch bei mir Top 10. Ob ich „Further to Fly“ oder „Stranger to Stranger“ auf die 1 setze, weiß ich noch nicht. „Graceland“ habe ich grad auf der 7, zwischen „The Obvious Child“ und „Hurricane Eye“.

Eigentlich müsste „Pigs, Sheep and Wolves“ auch rein. (Hatte ich bis eben nicht in der engeren Wahl.) Der beißende, aber doch immer auch versöhnliche Humor in Songs seit 2000 macht Paul Simon erst so richtig brilliant. Das Rhythmische ist sowieso unvergleichlich.

Werde aber auch nicht auf Songs aus den 70ern, 80ern und 90ern verzichten wollen. Es würde ihm wohl nur eine Top 100 so richtig gerecht werden.

Bewusst in dem Sinne, dass ich auf den Alben, soweit mir bekannt, nichts gefunden habe, was ich in meine Top 20 hätte nehmen wollen.

Meine Liste zu Paul Simon. Die ist schon recht „Graceland“ lastig. Das ist für mich eines der besten Alben der 80er Jahre. Leider haben noch drei weitere Songs den Weg in die Top 20 knapp verpasst. Paul Simon hat aber ein großes Repertoire.

Und direkt sechs Listen am ersten Tag. Das ist ein gelungener Start in diese Umfrage. Lediglich zwei Tracks tauchen noch in allen sechs Listen auf.
