Nein. Wie denn ohne Tonträger und Hörpraxis?

Kannst ja streamen. Mit einer sehr guten, umfangreichen Sinatra-Compilation ist man eigentlich bestens bestückt für die Umfrage. Außerdem würde dir eine Liste zu Sinatra eine gewisse Grandezza verleihen.

Man muss auch mal realistisch sein. Nicht jeder betreibt diesen schier unmenschlichen Aufwand, den ich betreibe, um eine Top 20 zu erstellen.
Das wird eine lange, spannende Umfrage werden!
Ich hoffe, dass sich die meisten Listen nicht auf die sedierenden Balladen der Frühphase konzentrieren werden. Sonst läuft man Gefahr, Sinatra auf seine eher schläfrigen Momente zu reduzieren, statt die volle Bandbreite seiner Kunst zu würdigen.

hab gerade mal die KI mit einer liste beauftragt. eine sedierende ballade auf 1 („wee small hours“), der new-york-song gar nicht drin, „strangers in the night“ nur auf 16 und auf 20 „my way“: „nicht musikalisch sein komplexester song, aber ein kulturelles monument“.

Man muss auch mal realistisch sein. Nicht jeder betreibt diesen schier unmenschlichen Aufwand, den ich betreibe, um eine Top 20 zu erstellen. Das wird eine lange, spannende Umfrage werden! Ich hoffe, dass sich die meisten Listen nicht auf die sedierenden Balladen der Frühphase konzentrieren werden. Sonst läuft man Gefahr, Sinatra auf seine eher schläfrigen Momente zu reduzieren, statt die volle Bandbreite seiner Kunst zu würdigen.

Danke, dass du das nochmal so bewusst machst. Wir dürfen uns glücklich schätzen, dass wenigstens einer die Qualität hochhält, zwischen den ganzen Würflern hier. Und dass das deinen Listen auch anzusehen ist.   

Ich hingegen habe 5 Monate lang Iggy gehört. Und was ist dabei rausgekommen? Ich glaube mir das ja selber kaum!

Tja, und der spätere Sinatra klingt für mich oftmals wie wenn Oma im zu doll beheizten Wohnzimmer nach der Sahnetorte noch den Eierlikör auf den Tisch stellt. „My Way“? „Theme From New York, New York“? „Strangers In The Night“? Fluchtreflexe.

Das ist ein mehr oder weniger originelles Bild, das mehr über die eigenen Abneigungen als über die eigentliche Musik bzw. die Songs aussagt. Der spätere Sinatra ist stimmlich und gesanglich auf einem z. T. deutlich höheren Level als der der früheren Aufnahmen.
Wenn man da nur Sahnetorte und Eierlikör hört, fehlt nicht den Tracks die Klasse, sondern dem Hörer die nötigen Antennen.

Aber wer weiß, vielleicht muss mozza es auch einfach nur oft genug wiederholen, damit irgendwann auch ich davon überzeugt bin, dass der spätere Frankie der bessere Sänger war…trotz fehlender Antennen.
