Wenn ich die Listen von Ashitaka (ich kenne max. 30%) oder auch firecracker ansehe, habe ich vielleicht die falschen Platten gehört. Leider fehlt mir mittlerweile die Zeit, mich in dieser Tiefe mit neuer Musik zu beschäftigen. Enttäuschend haben das Jahr für mich die arrivierten Künstler gemacht, die fast ausnahmslos für ihre Verhältnisse schwache Veröffentlichungen auf den Markt gebracht haben. Morrissey hat eine unterm Strich doch fade dahin rockende Platte mit einem Aufguss alter B-Seiten unterboten, Richard Hawley ein sterbenslangweiliges Konzeptalbum. 2010 lasen wir hoffentlich die Yazoo und Eurythmics-Aufgüsse hinter uns, ein weiteres Shoegazer-Imitat brauche ich auch nicht.

Wenn ich so nachdenke – die Zukunft der Musik liegt einmal mehr in den Händen von Liam und Noel.

recht vage, aber irgendwann muss man sich ja mal entscheiden (um die abgabefrist nicht zu verschlafen, wie vom RS-poll)… sind zumindest alles alben die ich dies‘ jahr gerne und oft gehört habe (neben ein paar weiteren), und die mich teils noch tagelang verfolgt haben, auch ohne, dass ich sie erneut gehört hätte.

auch wenn „i don’t want to dream“ ganz fantastisch beginnt und im verlauf des albums noch einige highlights parat hat, „like angels“ bleibt doch eine recht spannende angelegenheit. die smiths-anleihen siegen über die der byrds. ‚goth-disco crossover‘ (NME) ist einfach näher am puls der zeit als jangle pop.
