Fans will be able to get a new Rolling Stones disc and a Caramel Frappucinco in a single stop when the legendary rock band releases a rarities set through both Starbucks stores and traditional retail outlets in late November.
Set for a Nov. 22 release, „Rarities: 1971–2003“ consists of 16 remixes, rare b-sides and hard-to-find live recordings. The archival set, which is a joint project between Virgin Records and Starbucks‘ Hear Music, will include a cover of Chuck Berry’s „Let it Rock,“ originally released as a b-side to the 1971 single „Brown Sugar,“ as well as alternate takes of several of the band’s biggest hits, including live versions of „Tumbling Dice,“ „Wild Horses“ and „Beast of Burden.“ The record will also feature a dance remix of „Miss You.“
„With every studio session, there are always songs that never appear on the final album and at the time you think, what a shame that song did not make it,“ vocalist Mick Jagger said in a press statement. „‚Rarities‘ is a collection of the best of these overlooked bits along with some rarely heard live recordings pulled together into a CD that offers a blend of original material and some of our favorite cover songs.“
The cover material includes a version of Muddy Waters‘ „Mannish Boy.“ That’s an appropriate selection, given that it was Waters‘ song „Rollin‘ Stone“ that provided inspiration for the band’s name. Furthermore, Waters‘ electrified take on the blues helped pave the way for the Stones‘ success and continues to influence the group’s direction to this day.
The complete track listing for ‚Rarities‘ is as follows:
1. „Fancy Man Blues“ (b-side to the „Mixed Emotions“ single)
2. „Tumbling Dice“ (live)
