Schöne Liste mit der ich weitgehend übereinstimme. Aber ALS nur 4 Sterne?!

„A Love Supreme“ hat Schwächen. Mit dem thematisch sehr einfachen Material eine gute halbe Stunde stringent musikalisch zu füllen, waren Trane, Jones, Tyner und Garrison bei dieser Session noch nicht in der Lage. Das Werk muss in dieser suitenhaften Form als überambitioniert gelten. Die Idee ist toll und nicht ohne Risiko, konnte hier aber noch nicht komplett angemessen umgesetzt werden. Gerade Jones‘ Solo ist relativ durchschnittlich. (Garrisons dagegen ist klasse!) Die Liveaufnahme vom Antibes Festival 1965 ein halbes Jahr später ist wesentlich schlüssiger.
