I`m Not There Soundtrack
Here it is. All 33 songs of it. Stephen Malkmus, Calexico, Yo La Tengo, and The Million Dollar Bashers (?) are all over the soundtrack for Todd Haynes’ bizarro Dylan biopic I’m Not There. Also of note, Bob’s own never-before-released version of “I’m Not There”, a song that was previously only available on disc two of The Genuine Basement Tapes.

Vinyl Fever looks to have trumped all of us chasing after the „I’m Not There“ soundtrack details and good for them. They’ve got what appears to be the entire tracklist and it syncs up with those artists that we recently reported first – Eddie Vedder, Karen O, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sufjan Stevens, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. As we reported, their release date is October 30, however their tracklisting has 33, not 34 tracks (Deep Throat has been known to have off days).
Interesting new additions include Antony and the Johnsons, Mark Lanegan, the Black Keys and Television’s Tom Verlaine. Rounding out the list of new soundtrack contributors are Jack Johnson, Mira Billotte (of White Magic and Quix*o*tic), Bob Forrest (ex-Thelonious Monster; looks like it…), Ramblin‘ Jack Elliot and Los Lobos.
Looks Like Calexico are almost the house band on this thing working with Iron & Wine, Willie Nelson, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Roger McGuinn.
But the million dollar question is, who is The Million Dollar Bashers? They back a multitude of artists on this soundtrack.
As we predicted, Dylan’s much-sought and never-officially-released version of „I’m Not There“ (from the Genuine Basement Tapes) is included on the disc (discs?) and our old reported rumor of Mason Jennings‘ inclusion also turned out to be true.

„I’m Not There“ Gets 34th Track; Million Dollar Bashers Revealed
Well it wouldn’t be a Playlist Saturday without an update on the Todd Haynes directed, Bob Dylan biopic „I’m Not There“ update, right? Another inside source enjoying our blog, has let us know that when we originally reported 34 tracks and speculated the soundtrack would be 2-disc set, we were correct.
Our last update had what we assumed was the soundtrack’s final 33 songs (though as we stated earlier, no we don’t believe the tracklist will actually be alphabetical) so we thought our original source was bad at arithmetic. However, the missing 34th track is John Doe (ex of X) doing a second cover, „I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine“ from 1967’s John Wesley Harding.
Another big question we had was the identity of The Million Dollar Bashers – the band that backs a multitude of the artists covering Zimmy songs on the soundtrack, including Eddie Vedder, Karen O, Stephen Malkmus and Tom Verlaine (ex of Television).
Considering it has already been reported that Malkmus‘ sessions were recorded with Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Dylan bass player Tony Garnier, we figured these two were involved. Turns out we weren’t far off the mark. Our source also revealed the band’s membership which includes the aforementioned Ranaldo and Garnier, plus Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, Verlaine, keyboardist John Medeski (from Martin, Medeski and Wood), guitarist Smokey Hormel (onetime Beck guitarist, Smokey & Miho) and Wilco avante-guitarist Nels Cline.

Columbia Records will release I’m Not There, the soundtrack album from the upcoming Todd Haynes film, on Tuesday, October 30.
Featuring songs from and inspired by one of the year’s most wildly-anticipated films, the double-CD I’m Not There collection premieres new interpretations of Bob Dylan songs performed by an eclectic cavalcade of acclaimed and celebrated contemporary musicians including Eddie Vedder, Sonic Youth, Jim James, Stephen Malkmus, Cat Power, Jack Johnson, Sufjan Stevens, John Doe, Karen O, Iron & Wine, Mason Jennings, Jeff Tweedy, Willie Nelson, Antony, Los Lobos, Yo La Tengo, Mark Lanegan, Mason Jennings, Rambin‘ Jack Elliot, Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova and more
Many of the album’s performances include backing from the Million Dollar Bashers, an ensemble created for I’m Not There by Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo, featuring Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, Television guitarist Tom Verlaine, Wilco bassist Nels Cline, guitarist Smokey Hormel, keyboardist John Medeski and long-time Bob Dylan band bassist Tony Garnier. Eddie Vedder, Stephen Malkmus, and Karen O. are among the artists backed by the Million Dollar Bashers.
Other tracks on the album feature the alternative-country band Calexico backing up artists including Jim James, Iron & Wine, Roger McGuinn and Willie Nelson.
I’m Not There includes two versions of the enigmatic title track, a new interpretation performed by Sonic Youth and the original Bob Dylan recording, a rare oft-bootlegged outtake from „The Basement Tapes“ sessions which has been previously unavailable on any official release.
One of the year’s most highly-anticipated cinema releases, „I’m Not There“ is a meta-biographical film re-imaging the life of Bob Dylan as portrayed by six different actors — Marcus Carl Franklin, Ben Whishaw, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and Cate Blanchett — in six different phases of the artist’s life and career. Also appearing in „I’m Not There“ are Julianne Moore (as Alice), Michelle Williams (as Coco Rivington), Charlotte Gainsbourg (as Claire), and comedian David Cross (as Allen Ginsberg).
„I’m Not There“ is slated for a limited US release on November 21.
