Und ja, die beiden Kirk-Releases sehen super aus … ich hab allerdings noch nicht mal das Bremen-Konzert von 1963 angeschafft (von dem es auf „Dog Years in the Fourth Ring“ schon Kostproben gab – die Compilation war sozusagen mein Kirk-Durchbruch), muss ich mal nachholen.

Ohne Musik ist alles Leben ein Irrtum.Ich dachte, irgendwo sei auch noch gestanden, die Bänder seien nicht auffindbar gewesen? Aber das schliesst meine Mutmassungen nicht unbedingt aus … finde das kurz nach meinem Post hier gelesene allerdings nicht mehr (steht weder bei Craft noch auf der Evans-Website).

Portraits at the Penthouse: Live in Seattle is the first official release of the sublime pianist Bill Evans recorded live at the Penthouse jazz club in Seattle, Washington on May 12 and 19, 1966 with bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Joe Hunt. This is Resonance’s 8th official release in cooperation with the Bill Evans Estate and was originally recorded by radio DJ Jim Wilke for KING-FM radio. Transferred from the original tapes and restored and mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, the deluxe CD includes an extensive booklet with rare photographs, newly commissioned liner notes by Evans scholar Marc Myers, and interviews and testimonials from Eddie Gomez, Joe Hunt and piano legend Bob James.

Never-before-released recording recorded live at the Penthouse jazz club in Seattle on August 12 and 19, 1967 with pianist Rahn Burton, bassist Steve Novosel and drummer Jimmy Hopps. This infectious music was originally recorded by radio DJ Jim Wilke for KING-FM radio. Transferred from the original tapes and restored and mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. Recorded live at the Village Gate in New York City on November 26-27,1963 with pianists Horace Parlan, Melvin Rhyne, and Jane Getz, along with bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Sonny Brown. The music was originally recorded for a documentary film. The tapes were in storage for the next 62 years until now. Restored and mastered from the original tapes by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. Presented as a deluxe 180-gram 2LP gatefold with a 12-page booklet featuring rare photos, new essays by Herb Boyd and producer Zev Feldman, plus testimonies by Jeff Coffin, Chico Freeman and Charlie Apicella. LP mastering by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab; transfers from the original Sveriges Radio tapes.
Recorded in Stockholm (1967) with Lars Sjösten, Palle Danielsson and Albert “Tootie” Heath, and at the Åhus Jazz Festival (1972) with Kenny Barron, Bob Cunningham and Albert “Tootie” Heath.
