Ich muss zu meiner Schande gestehen, dass ich Monstar öfters sogar besser als „AFTP“ finde – Ist jedoch Stimmungsbedingt. Ich liebe Monster. „Let Me In“ gehört in die Top 10 der besten Lieder überhaupt!

„Monster“ rangiert bei mir, im Gesamtwerk der Band, eher unter „ferner liefen“. Schlecht finde ich es allerdings auch nicht.

Schöne Liste. Hast du die Tindersticks erst kürzlich entdeckt?
Ferner überrascht mich deine Wertschätzung für „Painted From Memory“, ein gutes Album, aber sooo gut?

Honey’s Dead kommt ein bisschen gut weg, in den 90ern waren die Mary Chain nicht mehr so aufregend, aus dieser Phase schätze ich am meisten das eher folkige Stoned & Dethroned.

Auch Portishead vor Dummy überrascht mich etwas, das selbstbetitelte Album hat bei mir noch nicht ganz gezündet.

Nicht nur sooo gut sondern absolut brillant.

nikodemusAuch Portishead vor Dummy überrascht mich etwas, das selbstbetitelte Album hat bei mir noch nicht ganz gezündet.

Warum wundert dich das? „Portishead“ bietet alle Stärken des Debüts, das allerdings wesentlich ausgefeilter und in Perfektion.

Überraschend ist, dass Morrissey zwar in Tinas Liste vorkommt, allerdings nicht mit seinem besten Album der 90s.

Ja ich weiß, dass Portishead (the album) hier viele Fans hat, die Magie von Dummy, dieses neue, entrückte Gefühl stellt sich bei mir nicht so ein. Irgendwie klang es für mich wie ein gut gemachter zweiter Aufguss.

Painted From Memory hat tolle Arrangements und Costello singt wie ein junger Gott, zumindest versucht er es. Ich mag den Blut und Hass Costello der Frühphase lieber, auch die Kompositionen finde ich recht unterschiedlich stark. Wie schon im Top Tracks Thread von Costello erwähnt, mein Lieblingstracks ist „God Give Me Strength“, die Emphase beim Singen, das Sehnsüchtige und Gebrochene plus diese Melodie, großartig. Der Rest hält da nicht ganz so gut mit.
