Folk von der eher experimentellen als traditionellen Sorte, aus dem Album The Möbius Kiss, das heute erscheint. Der Track ruhig, stimmungs- und geheimnisvoll, fein arrangiert und mit etwas Elektronik angereichert, die Lyrics rätselhaft – auf ihrem Einkaufszettel stehen Farben.
Catherine Rudie:
The video was inspired by a man I saw a couple of years ago at Kings Cross station who looked like a completely normal commuter, with a suit and tie… except he was also wearing a gold pyramid on his head. (…) To me, he represents an independence of thought and creativity which is very admirable in a world which can often seem very mundane and lacking in magic.
To me, this seems to fit with the theme of the song itself. Although we can become too used to our routines and our ‘normal’ lives… really we are on a tiny planet surrounded by an infinity of weird and wonderful things. Our existence itself is as strange and magical as anything we can dream up in our heads.

Jokerman. Jetzt schon 71 Jahre Rock 'n' RollZum Thema „reduzierter Folk-Pop (mit Autoharp)“, das TheMagneticField erwähnt hat, habe ich gerade etwas Schönes gefunden:
Kami Maltz & Josh Turner – „What Had You Done Before?“ (Live at Prospect Park, Brooklyn, 21.02.2018)
Kami Maltz ist mir erstmals vorgestern aufgefallen, als gute Joni Mitchell-Interpretin (zusammen mit Josh Turner); sie schreibt aber auch eigene Songs. Diesen hier singt sie auf Hebräisch (begleitet von Josh Turner, der größere Mühe mit der Aussprache hatte als mit dem Gitarrenpart), und er ist überaus hübsch – optimistisch, sonnig, leicht.
Und als Zugabe ihre aktuelle Single:
Kami Maltz – „Kingdom“ (2019)
Das ist der Lead-Track ihrer Perfectly the Same-EP, die im Mai erschienen ist – eine andere Art von Pop (Dream-Pop oder Jangle-Pop), der mich von ferne an The Sundays erinnert, obwohl die Produktion des Tracks mehr elektronische Elemente hat. Auch „Kingdom“ ist von schöner Leichtigkeit, obwohl es in dem Song um den Rückblick auf eine gescheiterte Beziehung geht nach dem Motto: You don’t know what you got ‚til it’s gone.
