Ich habe über die Tracks gehört, dass das wieder die Simon-Dine-Schiene ist wie auf den letzten beiden Alben, aber dieses Album noch schwächer ist als die davor. Ich selbst keinen Track davon gehört – mehr kann ich dazu wirklich nicht sagen.

was andere berichten, ist natürlich rein subjektiv. ich werde mir es auf jeden fall anhören, auch wenn die prognosen wieder extrem schlecht sind. demos höre ich mir nicht mehr an. die fand ich bei „as is now“ schon schlecht und das album dann großartig. aber angesichts der letzten beiden platten habe ich auch keine großen erwartungen mehr.
dafür muss er nun wohl noch mehr touren… er würde aber langsam auch gut in den p’berg zu den latte macchiato mamis und papis passen. die sind auch schon alle grau…

Girls, go home! ...verdammt gut schaut er aus!Ich werde mir die Platte auch auf jeden Fall kaufen, ich konnte auch den letzten beiden Platten noch einiges abgewinnen, was mir gefallen hat. Ich wünschte mir nur, er würde mal wieder ein paar Songs schreiben, die auch nur zu Gitarre oder Piano gut klingen und dann mit einer „richtigen“ Band ins Studio gehen und als Band aufnehmen und einen so schönen Sound wie auf Studio 150 oder As is now produzieren. Sollte der Drummer dabei Steve White heißen, würde ich mich noch mal mehr freuen. Sollte der Bassist Bruce Foxton heißen, ebenso!

Im Februar(!) hieß es dazu:
Following on from the huge critical and commercial successes of his last two albums, The Modfather isn’t wasting any time with his next release, telling Q Magazine he expects it to be completed by March and ready for release sometime around August or September.
2008’s ’22 Dreams’ and 2010’s ‘Wake Up The Nation’ were described by many as his best work since his early solo days when he penned modern classics like ‘Wild Wood’ and ‘Stanley Road’ but Weller isn’t taking anything for granted and is continuing to follow the model of his most recent work and incorporating a wide variety of influences and genres into the new album.
As yet untitled, Weller says that despite having only spent 8 days working on the album so far it’s close to being complete and he already has the eleven tracks that will make up the record. He’s also confident there will be a couple of singles; including one they’ve already trialled at live shows
“There’s one called ‘That Dangerous Age’ that we’ve been playing live that’s a mega tune with a funk edge to it. We did a couple of brand new tracks this week and they both sound like singles to me”
The album is being co-produced and co-written with Simon Dine (who also worked on 22 Dreams) and Weller describes the album as containing ‘strong, melodic pop, but mixed with electronic elements.’
Weller himself admits he’s hit an unusually prolific spell of writing but insists it’s an organic process saying he didn’t particularly have plans for a new album but once he started a few demos things snowballed from there and now he’s just months away from his 3rd release in 4 years.
When asked about a tour to promote the album he was less committal although suggested he is likely to get back on the road in 2012. ‘Probably next year. I want to get off the merry go round for a while and spend more time with my kids. And I want to record more. I want to do something a bit experimental – proper instrumental soundtrack music for an arty, European film.’

Als Single ist das etwas mau. Dass es schwirrt und fiept, ist mir egal. Ich mag ja WUTN wirklich gern. Aber Around the Lake ist „not much of a song“. Schade, die letzte Single Starlight war wirklich gut.

Nie mehr Zweite Liga!!!Wer singt denn auf „Around the lake“? Das klingt wie Damon Albarn auf einem okayen Albumtrack von BLUR im Hier u. Jetzt. Höre es nicht ganz so schlecht wie manch Altevorderer hier aber das Zucken u. Blitzen dieser Dancefloor Brechers braucht wieder mal ein paar spins länger. Starlite war klar besser. Weller Fans mal wieder zwischen Himmel u. Hölle. Hört das denn nie mehr auf…?

Weller’s 2012 live schedule will also hopefully include a full scale UK tour and The Jam legend could also include a special show alongside fellow singer-songwriter virtuoso Noel Gallagher, who today unveiled a special open-air show at Scotland’s Edinburgh Castle in July. Naja, harmoniert wenigstens mit der Qualität der Single.
Oh Mann. Das erschüttert mein Weltbild irgendwie schon. Zwei miese Weller-Alben in Folge? Wenn er allerdings mal wieder nach HH kommt, bin ich ihm nur noch halb so böse.
