Dann will ich auch mal, nachdem sich das Album hier ein halbes Dutzend mal gedreht hat. Bestes Lana Del Rey-Album? Auf jeden Fall. Bestes Album des Jahres 2019 so far? Nicht ganz, aber locker Top Five. Meine Favoriten: „Mariner apartment complex“, „Fuck it I love you“, „The greatest“, „Bartender“, „Happiness is a butterfly“, „Hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but I have it“. Also eine ganze Reihe. „Venice bitch“? Im Grunde ebenfalls ein toller Track, ist mir aber deutlich zu lang geraten. Unter dem Strich: ****1/2 und damit aktuell wie gesagt Top Five 2019.

Ich lese den amerikanischen „Rolling Stone“ schon lange so gerne wie den deutschen, nämlich gar nicht. Aber manchmal finden sich in dem einen noch glühende Formulierungen, die ich in dem anderen erst gar nicht suchen würde. Musikjournalismus jenseits von sprachlich altbackener Dienstleistungsschreiberei heavy on Adjektiven, war da mal was? Aus der „Norman Fucking Rockwell“-Rezension: „… these are torch ballads that feel like they should be playing in the background of some lost Nineties straight-to-video erotic thriller, on a VHS tape buried in the attic of someone who hustled it from Blockbuster and died before paying the late fee.“ (Rob Sheffield, nicht grundsätzlich als Edelfeder bekannt)
