Bin da nur halb kompetent, in der Regel gucke ich nur bei den CDs, aber für Borgmann mache ich wohl wieder eine Ausnahme und kaufe die LP! Ansonsten sprachen mich immer schon besonders die Reissues/Ausgrabungen an, aktuell z.B. die Sam Rivers-Reihe – Vol. 3 wird gleich bestellt! (Und Howard Riley, Wadada, Bobby Bradford – wobei ich die jüngste, auch eine LP, rec. 1991, noch gar nicht anhören könnte.)

WHIT DICKEY
NOW IN STOCK!Whit Dickey has been a quiet but brilliant presence on the New York avant-jazz scene since his discographical debut in 1991 on the legendary Matthew Shipp Trio album Circular Temple. In concert and on recordings in groups led by Shipp, David S. Ware, Ivo Perelman, Joe Morris, and Rob Brown, he built a reputation for distinctively space-filled, subtle rhythmic support, even as he was perfectly capable of muscling up when the music called for it. For some of the people he plays with, three decades yield dozens of releases as a leader, but the present release — his first on ESP-Disk’— is just Dickey’s 13th at the helm after one in the ’90s, seven in the ’00s (including groups The Nommonsemble and Trio Ahxoloxha), and four in the recently concluded decade. The musician Dickey has most frequently teamed with is Shipp, and here they are again in a pair of contexts, the first disc a duo, the second a trio with the addition of Nate Wooley.
ESP-Disk’ quickly understood why Dickey has released relatively few albums as a leader: he is incredibly demanding of himself. There were multiple sessions by each configuration heard here, not to mention a quartet as well; Dickey kept going back into the studio, pushing himself to greater heights until he was finally satisfied. We got so confused about it that the recording date of the first disc is incorrectly listed in the physical album’s packaging; the correct date is listed below.

Die beiden Rivers-Releases, das Livealbum von Evan Parker/Barry Guy/Paul Lytton und die Toyozumi-Archiv-Veröffentlichungen („The Aiki“ mit Masahiko Satoh, „Burning Meditation“ mit Wadada Leo Smith, „Banka“ mit Kaoru Abe).
A propos No Business: Kennt jemand dieses Album?
David Sewelson habe ich erst dieses Jahr durch seine neue schöne LP kennengelernt, würde mich aber vor allem wegen Ibarra und Walter Perkins interessieren.

Hier meine Empfehlungen zu den No Business Veröffentlichungen von 2019 (nur CDs – obwohl manches davon, mitunter gekürzt, auch auf Vinyl erhältlich ist):
Für mich einer der musikalischen Höhepunkte des letzten Jahres.
Wunderbares Trio mit Posaune, Piano und Schlagzeug – von Free Jazz bis Free Improvisation – keine Kraftmeierei sondern feines lauschen auf die Mitmusiker.
Hatte mir obige CD nur wegen Sunny Murray gekauft. War aber sehr erfreut über die Musik der ,it gänzlich unbekannten Instrumentalisten.
Originäres Saxophonspiel – wohl weltweit einmalig als Instrumentalist. Mit der furchtlosen Midori Takada als Tae Hwans Partner.

Ich hab nur gefragt, weil die anderen Empfehlungen persönlich verdankt wurden
Finde die Bradford-Sachen von NoBusiness (und zudem die CD von Nessa!) allesamt sehr hörenswert, weil ich sein Trompetenspiel wirklich sehr berührend finde … und da ist ja ordentlich was zusammengekommen:

Fast alles Live-Aufnahmen, die Nessa („The Silver Cornet“, auch 2014, ich glaub nur ein paar Tage von „The Delaware River“ weg, gleiches Line-Up bei beiden, Haker-Flaten und Frank Rosaly dazu) fügt sich direkt dazu ein … sehr verdienstvoll auf jeden Fall!
