3 Jayhawks-Alben (Sound of lies, Smile & Rainy day music) werden demnächst neu aufgelegt (Vinyl und CD). Dazu gibt’s auch ein paar Konzerttermine im Sommer.
    http://www.jayhawksofficial.com/shows.html

NEW JAYHAWKS REISSUES TO BE RELEASED ON CD JULY 1; VINYL AUGUST 5

The Jayhawks couldn’t be more excited to announce that the long-awaited reissues of Sound of Lies, Smile and Rainy Day Music will be released on July 1 on American Recordings/Universal. Expanded CD editions of all 3 albums will be available with bonus tracks, new photos and liner notes. All of the original tracks were remastered in April 2014 by renown mastering engineer Vic Anesini at Battery Studios in NYC using original analog sources whenever possible, offering a fresh new look at these classic albums. Deluxe 2LP vinyl editions of all 3 albums will be available on August 5. Smile was never released on vinyl (in the US) and Sound of Lies & Rainy Day Music were only originally released on vinyl in very limited quantities so this will be great news for vinyl fans. The new 2LP editions will released on 180g high quality vinyl and will contain the bonus tracks. Also out on August 5: the 2011 vinyl versions of Hollywood Town Hall and Tomorrow the Green Grass have been repressed and will be once again back in stock.

These reissues are the next phase in The Jayhawks’s massive, career-spanning archival project that began in 2009 with the Music From the North Country anthology. A vinyl repressing and the first CD release of the long out-of-print 1986 debut Jayhawks album (the so-called “Bunkhouse” album) followed in 2010, with deluxe reissues of the seminal Hollywood Town Hall and Tomorrow the Green Grass albums coming in 2011.

The basic 1997 touring lineup of Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Tim O’Reagan, Karen Grotberg and Kraig Johnson will be hitting the road in 2014 to support these new reissues. Since virtually none of the songs from these 3 reissued albums have been performed in concert by The Jayhawks in over a decade, the setlists this year for will focus on Sound of Lies, Smile and Rainy Day Music, augmented by older Jayhawks songs, well-chosen covers and some rarities. A European tour has already been booked and select North American dates have been announced with many more to follow. 2014 will be an excellent year for Jayhawks fans.

    Three different formats – 6-CD, 3- BluRay and 4-LP.

If you look at most „Best Live Albums Of All-Time“ lists, you’re more than likely to see The Allman Brothers Band’s 1971 live album At Fillmore East near the top. The album was recorded over the three-night span of March 11 – 13 and on July 29 we’ll be able to hear more material from the run when Mercury Records releases The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings.

Hittin‘ The Note publisher John Lynskey, who penned the liner notes for the new release, gave more details…….The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings will contain a whopping 14 previously unreleased tracks recorded on March 12 and 13. Apparently the new release includes four full sets from the 12th and 13th as unfortunately no tapes exist from the first night of the run. Lynskey also notes that the package includes the complete versions of the two „You Don’t Love Me’s“ that producer Tom Dowd cut and spliced together for the original version on the At Fillmore East album. The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings is also expected to contain a recording of the Allman’s Fillmore East- closing performance from June 27, 1971.

The title of the 1970 documentary That’s The Way It Is might have been plain-spoken, but nothing else was plain about the chronicle of Elvis Presley’s return to the concert stage. And there’s certainly nothing plain about the extravagant treatment being accorded the film and its companion album this summer. Why, we’d even say it’s fit for a – make that, The King. On August 5, Legacy Recordings will team with Warner Bros. Home Video for a massive 8-CD/2-DVD box set including six full-length concerts, rehearsals and rare recordings on compact disc plus two complete versions of the film on DVD.

This new box set has more than twice the audio content of the previous 3-CD Special Edition, released in 2001 by RCA Victor. Whereas that set included the original album with bonus material, the complete August 12, 1970 midnight concert and rehearsals/unreleased tracks, the new box features:
•CD 1 – The Original Album plus outtakes and single versions
•CD 2 – August 10, 1970 Opening Night concert at Las Vegas’ International Hotel
    •CD 3- August 11, 1970 Dinner Show
    •CD 4 – August 11, 1970 Midnight Show
    •CD 5 – August 12, 1970 Dinner Show
    •CD 6 – August 12, 1970 Midnight Show
    •CD 7 – August 13, 1970 Dinner Show
    •CD 8 – The Rehearsals

The August 11 dinner show and August 12 dinner show are both being released in full for the very first time. The August 10 opening show, August 11 midnight show and August 13 dinner show have only been made available in the past from the collector-oriented Follow That Dream label on, respectively, One Night in Vegas, Live in Las Vegas, and The Wonder of You.

In addition, the two DVDs boast:
•DVD 1: 2001 Special Edition, Restoration Featurette, Elvis Career Highlights, Director/Restorer Filmographies, Theatrical Trailer
    •DVD 2: 1970 Original Theatrical Version, Outtakes

An 80-page book, with photographs, memorabilia, recording data and more, accompanies the set. Also on August 5, Legacy will issue a 2-CD highlights edition of That’s the Way It Is as part of the ongoing Legacy Edition series of Presley reissues.

    PRESS RELEASE:

In 1970, Elvis Presley fans were thrilled by the arrival of two cultural milestones: one an album, the other a full-length concert/documentary and each of them called Elvis: That’s The Way It Is. Since then, aficionados of Elvis have been clamoring for a package that included both the album and the film.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2014, Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition), the most ambitious Elvis Presley restoration package ever created, bringing together—for the first time ever–the album, the theatrical and home video versions of the film, six full-length concerts (featuring previously unreleased performances), rehearsal highlights and other rare recordings in one astounding and essential package. The result of an historic partnership between Sony Music and Warner Brothers Home Video, the deluxe set combines the video and audio assets of Elvis: That’s The Way It Is with unique and previously unreleased material.

A highly-collectible 8CD/2DVD box set, That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition), marks the first time the 1970 documentary and album have been available in a single package, with bonuses including unreleased material, remixed and remastered audio and a new 80-page book detailing the entire event with facts, songwriter and musician interviews, and photos in a deluxe 8CD/2DVD box set. A 2CD Legacy Edition of Elvis: That’s The Way It Is will also be available. Elvis: That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) is available for pre-order now on Amazon.com.

Originally released on RCA Records in November 1970, Elvis: That’s The Way It Is combined eight studio tracks, recorded in Nashville, and four live concert performances recorded in Las Vegas during Presley’s 1970 “Summer Festival” season at The International Hotel in Las Vegas to create what the All Music Guide has called “…one of his best…” and “essential listening for Elvis fans, both die-hard and casual.”

Though never considered a soundtrack album, Elvis: That’s The Way It Is was initially released to accompany the first theatrical run of “Elvis: That’s The Way It Is,” a 1970 documentary feature, directed by Denis Sanders, which combined on-stage, off-stage and behind-the-scenes footage in Presley’s first non-dramatic film since his 1956 Hollywood movie debut. In the documentary, Sanders captured and illuminated a pivotal moment in Elvis’ transformation from teen idol to consummate showman, Memphis meets Vegas via Hollywood, the King’s return to full concert performances after years of film stardom.

Elvis Presley had made a dramatic comeback two years prior to these shows in a transcendent NBC-TV special, which aired in December 1968. The International Hotel, then-newly-built and the largest live venue in Las Vegas, booked Presley for an unprecedented 57 show run in July 1969, a four-week-long residency that would raise the bar and set the standard for superstar entertainment in Vegas and beyond. “There are several unbelievable things about Elvis, but the most incredible is his staying power in a world where meteoric careers fade like shooting stars,” Newsweek wrote of his incredible new approach to live performance at the time, while Rolling Stone lauded Elvis as “supernatural–his own resurrection.”

Early in 1970, Elvis returned to Vegas for a second engagement at the International, with RCA recording songs for the then forthcoming On Stage, February 1970. Elvis was on a roll and making big plans–including a feature film–surrounding what would be his third Las Vegas engagement, scheduled for the summer of 1970

On June 4, 1970, Elvis arrived at RCA’s Studio B in Nashville, where producer Felton Jarvis had assembled a hot new session band featuring Elvis’ on-stage guitar legend James Burton. Five nights of recording generated material for no less than three future albums and four singles, including Elvis: That’s The Way It Is and the essential Elvis Country album.

On July 14, rehearsals for the movie and live shows commenced at the MGM lot in Culver City, California. The Hollywood cameras rolled for five different rehearsals prior to the opening night on August 10, including augmentation run-throughs with the singers and the orchestra at the hotel. Unquestionably, Elvis was keen to broaden his repertoire for the film, as more than 60 songs were attempted during the period, far more than the usual average of 20 to 25 that would normally be chosen. Over the four nights filmed by MGM, Elvis and his band worked tirelessly, trying out a broad variety of musical styles, emphasizing his desire to share the wide range of music he loved with his audience. Director Denis Sanders captured the end result magnificently, providing fans throughout the world with their first glimpse of the new contemporary Elvis performing at the peak of his vocal prowess both in rehearsal and on the stage.

That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) centers on the six complete shows recorded and partially filmed by MGM. Two of the shows are released for the first time in their entirety; two more have only been available only through the mail-order Elvis fan-club network. The original RCA album is expanded with the four single sides from the period, and a selection of “fly-on-the-wall” outtakes from the June Nashville sessions that produced the majority of tracks for the album. Completing the audio section, a separate disc of insightful rehearsal highlights, featuring unusual song selections showcases both the hard work and the playful atmosphere that governed Elvis’ relationship with his musicians.

The original Elvis: That’s The Way It Is includes fiery renditions of “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me,” previously a hit for Dusty Springfield; “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin,’” made famous by The Righteous Brothers, and a show-stopping rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” The original album and singles will fill Disc One of the new edition, with six CDs worth of concert performances and one of rehearsal takes from the Summer of ’70 International Hotel residency.

That’s The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) puts the original RCA album and the 1970 MGM documentary feature together in a single package for the first time. It includes both the original theatrical DVD version (1970) and the re-edited and extended DVD version from 2000.

Jetzt gibt es verwertbare weitergehende Informationen:

A massively expanded version of The Allman Brothers Band’s 1971 live album At Fillmore East, will be released in July.

The new set is called The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings and will be available as a six-CD box, a three-blu-ray audio collection or a four-LP vinyl package and will feature 14 previously unreleased tracks from various March 1971 shows, with the venue’s closing gig of 27 June that same year being included in its entirety (along with an introduction by venue owner Bill Graham, that is also unreleased).

The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings also give fans a chance to hear the complete versions of the two takes on You Don’t Love Me that were combined by producer Tom Dowd for the original Album.

The blu-rays are thought to contain 5.1 surround mixes of the entire content, although that has not been officially confirmed at this stage (this post will be updated when we have official confirmation).

The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings is issued by Universal Music on 29 July 2014.

1974 saw the British quartet release their second album, Queen II, earn their first U.K. Top 10 single (“Seven Seas of Rhye”) and embark on their first headlining tour. While some critics found a headlining slot at The Rainbow a daunting challenge for such a new band, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor sold even the most skeptical observer at their March date in the fabled venue. Queen would quickly record and release their third album, Sheer Heart Attack, that same year, and reappeared at The Rainbow in November, the same month the album was released.

Hardcore fans, of course, might know that the March 1974 show was recorded by producer Roy Thomas Baker with an intention to release a live album later that year. That never materialized, though the November show was filmed and released in part on VHS in the Box of Tricks set issued in 1992. Now, however, audio of both shows, as well as video from both sets, will be available on Live At The Rainbow ’74. Together, they mark some of the earliest live Queen performances officially heard, with several tracks making their first appearances on a live release, making it quite the boon for collectors.

And the band, along with their distributing labels (Virgin in the U.K. and Hollywood in the U.S.) is going all-out in releasing this set. A single-disc edition features the November show in full, while the two-disc version features both the March and November shows. The November show (and four tracks from the March show) will be featured on DVD and Blu-ray Disc editions, to be released through Eagle Rock Entertainment. (A U.S. exclusive will pair the November show on CD with the Blu-ray.) Two vinyl packages will be available: a double-vinyl set that features “album presentations” from both shows and a quadruple-vinyl set with both shows in full. Finally, a super-deluxe box includes all the CD, DVD and Blu-ray content plus the following extra swag:
•A 60-page hardback book featuring previously unseen photographs, and reproductions of vintage reviews and articles
•Two replica tickets from the March concert (the seats, in fact, were that of Brian May’s parents)
•A reproduction of the tour itinerary folder for the March concert from promoter Mel Bush
•A replica of the eight-page tour program
    •Two replica souvenir button badges
    •A tour poster
•Reproduced photos from a shoot for The Telegraph
•A replica sticker backstage pass for the March concert

    Re-mastered Dubnobasswithmyheadman reissue out 6th October 2014

    (CD / 2xCD deluxe / 2xLP / HD Blu-Ray / 5xCD super-deluxe)

“By writing ‘songs’—albeit playful, deranged ones—Underworld have come up with a solution for the facelessness that blights dance music.” NME

In January ‘94, Rick Smith, Darren Emerson & Karl Hyde released their debut album – Dubnobasswithmyheadman – on independent label Junior Boy’s Own. Up to that point, the three-piece were seen as something of a square peg. They crafted songs from transcendent dance music. They were clearly a band – complete with frontman/guitarist – yet they made records where the constituent parts and players were often indefinable. Musically, they took elements from the European techno underground & Balearic clubs and fused them with spliced up beat poetry and strung out ambient sounds. Really, they just weren’t like anyone else.

Underworld’s debut arrived as a fully formed statement of intent. Its’ nine tracks showcased the limitless possibilities of electronic music. Although born out of club culture, Dubnobass… defied the accepted genres of the time – equally suited to the dancefloor and the after party, it was as immersive an experience quaking through bassbins or headphones. Two decades on from its original release, it’s unarguable that Dubnobasswithmyheadman is one of the most influential British electronic records of all time; a signpost for everything from dance music’s easy relationship with main stages at festivals to the radio/globe-conquering EDM phenomenon.

To celebrate its twentieth anniversary, the album has been meticulously remastered at Abbey Road for a deluxe reissue. Revisiting the original MIDI files, Rick Smith uncovered a wealth of previously unreleased material and rare alternate mixes that sit alongside the record’s original companion singles and remixes and offer a fascinating insight into the creation of the record. The resultant release is the definitive version of one of those rare records that truly deserves to be described as a classic.

To coincide with the re-release of Dubnobasswithmyheadman, Underworld will play the album in full at a one-off show at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Saturday 11th October 2014. This show will offer fans a unique chance to see Underworld in one of the capital’s most iconic venues playing this classic album in its entirety for the first time. Tickets cost £35/£30 and are on general sale from 4th July.

Dubnobasswithmyheadman is the first remastered work to be released, there are plans in place to remaster and reissue all of the Underworld’s studio albums in the next few years.

Oasis will reissue their 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? in September, the second of their ‘Chasing The Sun’ reissues.

As with their debut, this has been remastered and re-packaged and this release includes b-sides, early demos and soundcheck recordings from the Oasis archives. The box set more or less follows the design and content of the Definitely Maybe set. It contains the standard three-CD deluxe edition (see track listing below) plus the following:

    • Deluxe box with magnetic closure lid
    • 2LP double vinyl edition
    • 56 page hard backed coffee table book
    • Replica 12″ promo (Cum On Feel The Noise/Lynch Mob Beats Remix)
    • Exclusive 7″ vinyl of Hello (demo)
    • She’s Electric (demo), replica promo cassette
    • Exclusive merchandise (i.e. probably badges, key-rings etc.)

The two-LP edition is available separately, along with the three-CD deluxe and a single disc remaster is also available. There are a few exclusives offered via the Oasis online store.

(What’s The Story) Morning Glory? was an enormous success for Oasis in the very heart of the Britpop era, and went on to become the best selling album of the decade, achieving 14 platinum certifications. The album features many singles but Wonderwall is arguably one of the best loved, although ironically this didn’t make it to the top of the charts, peaking at number two in the UK top 40.

It is official this will be released. From the press release-„In September 2014, Polar Music will release ABBA LIVE AT WEMBLEY ARENA (a whole evening with ABBA)! “

The 2 x CD or 3 x LP will be released world wide! It included two previously unreleased songs „I’m Still Alive“ and „Gammal Fäbodpsalm“

This release has been prepared by Benny’s son-Ludwig Andersson. It is said that he tried to present the songs in „worts and all“ versions here, as opposed to the tweaked versions found on the ABBA Live album. (The ABBA Live album also featured recordings from 1977 and 1981) .

There are two „new“ songs available here. „I’m Still Alive“ is a melodramatic 1979 song (that was never released elsewhere ) with music by Agnetha and so-so lyrics by Bjorn.“ „Gammal Fäbodpsalm“is a instrumental cover of a Swedish pastoral hymn written by Swedish composer Oskar Lindberg . It was used as the opening overture for the concerts. Neither are great songs, but it’s good to see them finally see official release.

„I“m Still Alive“ is the only ABBA song to not feature a writing credit for Benny Andersson. The recording of „Not Bad At All“ by Tomas Ledin and the ABBA backing band which also performed at the shows was not included. (that’s no great loss.) Many of these songs have been released in similar live versions on ABBA’s Live album or on the ABBA In Concert DVD.

ABBA appeared at London’s Wembley Arena (as opposed to Wembley Stadium) in November 1979. ABBA’s 1979-1980 tour was their last concert tour.

    Official Track listing:

    1. Gammal fäbodpsalm
    2. Voulez-Vous
    3. If It Wasn’t For The Nights
    4. As Good As New
    5. Knowing Me, Knowing You
    6. Rock Me
    7. Chiquitita
    8. Money, Money, Money
    9. I Have A Dream
    10. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
    11. SOS
    12. Fernando
    13. The Name Of The Game
    14. Eagle
    15. Thank You For The Music
    16. Why Did It Have To Be Me
    17. Intermezzo No 1
    18. I’m Still Alive
    19. Summer Night City
    20. Take A Chance On Me
    21. Does Your Mother Know
    22. Hole In Your Soul
    23. The Way Old Friends Do
    24. Dancing Queen
    25. Waterloo
